‘NON-binary BINARY’ is the next event on Synergy, run by artist...
7pm
18/12/20
‘Visually philosophising on the human condition through the eyes of characters, being their virtual or physical, that I create and give life to is what gives me the pleasure of freedom in the art and excites my personal questioning and reflection.
I love to experiment with what is available as a form of art medium or tool, from cardboard to wire to free software, all to create installations and performances with worlds and characters that bend the reality and become surreal.
I am not interested in reality as such. But it helps me give voice to imaginary worlds that do not conform to the laws of reality.
i am not interested in reality as such but as an inspiration to surreality.’

Our 2nd year student Sean Phillips has got work featured in 'Five Hides' an exhibition at Manor Place. Follow this link to reserve a free ticket to visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/thorp-stavri-31143556469 Sean says about the work "Riding Slab explores the relationships of dominance, control and the trust that are inherent in forms of bo***ge. whether that be in the context of death as the only certainty in life, being tied to culture/capital of my father's labour technique as a data cabling engineer or technology'a ubiquitous involvement in our lives. The title is taken from southern state American hip hop slang popularised by artists such as DJ Screw, a sub cultural cue that is commonly in my practice"

Hi Guys!
I have been working super hard over the past few months to get everything ready for the launch of Lolly's Kitchen.
Messy kitchens, full bellies, video editing and website designing all thrown into the mix of my days, I'm super excited to announce that we are very nearly ready !!
Keep a close eye on this space over the next few days ;)

Synergy Oracles Three: Hayley Dixon
Synergy Oracles is a series of events in which our guests address the question:
'How do you see an artworld functioning in a post-pandemic scenario from your perspective?'
ABOUT THIS EVENT
Hayley Dixon is the Deputy Director of Focal Point Gallery, an art institution in Southend-on-Sea that supports the production and presentation of new and recent contemporary art that challenges us to think and feel differently about locality, our sense of self and the importance of communities.
She joined FPG in 2016, initially to lead the county-wide cultural tourism programme Radical ESSEX, and co-edited the book of the same name with new writing from Tim Burrows, Gillian Darley, Charles Holland and Rachel Lichtenstein.
Prior to this, Hayley worked for Frieze Art Fair as Exhibition Production Manager, and she is currently a trustee of The Old Waterworks in Southend-on-Sea. She graduated from Middlesex University from BA Fine Art in 2009
