We’re delighted to be hosting a beautiful Art & Craft Exhibition at 61 Fore Street this Bank Holiday weekend!

The show opened today and it looks fab - the gallery is full of colour, pattern, paintings and handmade work, bringing together three Spanish artists and an English textile maker.

Featuring work by Roberto Ciabeza Gonzalez, Felix Cabeza Gonzalez, Rafael Cabrillana and This Bird Crochets, it’s a really vibrant mix of landscape, abstraction, storytelling and contemporary craft.

If you’re around Torpoint this weekend, get along and take a look! Have a browse, enjoy the exhibition and, if something catches your eye, support the artists by taking home a piece of original art or craft.

We love seeing our space filled with work like this and being able to provide a space for artists and makers to show and sell their work locally.

📣 LOVE FORE STREET IS BACK TONIGHT!

Session 6 of ‘Love Fore Street’ project is happening TONIGHT from 4:30pm at Torpoint Youth.

This week we’re getting stuck into:

🎨 Street rollout + pattern design
💙 Developing the Love Fore Street brand
💡 Creative planning
🏘️ Ideas for the future of Fore Street
🍪 And, importantly… FREE SNACKS!

Young people aged 13-18 are invited to come along, get creative, learn new design skills and help shape ideas that could have a real impact on Torpoint’s high street.

You don’t need to have attended previous sessions - new faces are very welcome!

🎉 FUNDING SUCCESS FOR "OUR TOWN" COMMUNITY PROJECT 🎉

We’re delighted to share that Torpoint Artists Collective CIC has been awarded £17,642 from The National Lottery Community Fund for "Our Town" a new 15-month programme of creative skills, youth activity and community support in Torpoint.

This is particularly exciting because the project idea has grown directly from conversations with local people - during the development of the Torpoint Arts & Culture Strategy - telling us they wanted more opportunities to develop creative skills, support community activity, give young people a stronger voice and celebrate what makes Torpoint distinctive.

Now we can start putting some of those ideas into action. 🙌

From our community arts space at 61 Fore Street ‘Our Town’ will create FREE opportunities including:

🎨 Creative and digital skills workshops
📣 Support with communications, storytelling and reaching new audiences
🤝 Practical skills for community groups, volunteers and local organisers
🧑‍🎨 More creative opportunities for young people
📷 Chances for young people to document Torpoint and tell its stories
🏘️ Activity exploring our town, high street, identity and sense of place

We’ll also build on 'Love Fore Street', connecting the creativity of Torpoint’s young people with the skills, knowledge and enthusiasm already found across our wider community.

A huge thank you to National Lottery players for making this possible - and to everyone who contributed ideas, attended events, completed surveys, volunteered or helped shape Torpoint’s Arts & Culture Strategy.

‘Our Town’ begins this Autumn, with workshops, youth activity and lots of ways to get involved announced over the coming months.

Love Fore Street was awesome tonight!

Young people have been exploring brand ideas inspired by their own sketches and photography - playing with colour swatches, typefaces and graphics, from Morse code to quirky logos and plenty in between.

We’re working on a bit of a treat for the town… and there’s lots more to come!

Next up, we’re planning a trip to Totnes in early September to explore how another town uses creativity, identity and independent culture, before bringing everything together for an exhibition with us later that month.

A massive thanks to Cornwall Community Foundation for supporting the project and to Kernow Connect / Action for Children for partnering with us and helping make these sessions happen. And Josh for your creative energy!!!
