# # NEWSFLASH!! POSSIBILITY OF NEW PREMISES!! # #
The search may finally be over, and the possible solution would mean the Bakelite Museum returning to London, where it began. In fact, it would be going to Hackney, where plastics first began before Bakelite was invented. Colvestone Primary School in Dalston has been closed owing to falling pupil numbers, and a consortium of arts organisations, headed by the Dalston Trust, is proposing to bring this fine Victorian building back into use by opening it as a creative and cultural centre. It will include artists' studios, music training and performance, puppetry, pottery and two fabulous museums. We at the Bakelite Museum are pleased and proud to be working with Pollocks Toy Museum, another wonderful, entertaining and longstanding collection that has also been looking for new premises for some time. Hackney Council have put Strettons Estate Agent in charge of finding the next use for Colvestone Primary School, which has been listed as an Asset of Community Value, and we are submitting an Expression of Interest in October.
