This month in @woodruffscafestroud we have another pair of artists exhibiting! @lindsaytreenart
and @catherinejonesart
In Lindsay's own words:
"Although I enjoyed painting as a child, my first love was singing, which lead to a brief career as a solo performer before becoming a music therapist and later, a sound therapist. Then in 2014 I had a visceral response to a painting on the cover of Resurgence magazine - ‘Community’ by Giorgia Siriaco – it hit me right in the solar plexus, as did the singing three years later of a young Kazakh named Dimash Kudaibergen. These two inspired me to begin painting in earnest to revel in my love of colour and express whatever was on my heart, whether a song, a dance, or some happening in the world; or unconsciously to let whatever wanted to be expressed come through.
During lockdown the Find Your Joy course with Louise Fletcher kept me happily occupied, followed by the Creative Visionary Program (CVP) with Nicholas Wilton.
New pieces begin with play (usually on birch panels), no pre-conceived ideas, just the initial choice of colours, mark making and building layers, in between which I may scrape back and/or sand, until the painting feels finished. It’s an exercise in non-judgement and of faith – faith that things will resolve eventually as the dance between head and heart plays out. It can take a while: the impulse to rush to the finish is hard to resist. The process needs to be the focus, though, if it’s to be enjoyed. In all this I continually strive to be authentic.
My thanks to SAC for opportunities to exhibit with such a lovely group of people".

Stroud Art Fair August 2021. What a fabulous day we had! Great atmosphere; great people; great art; great venue and even great weather! We are planning more events for the near future - and some more Art Fairs for next year! We expect next year’s fairs to be even bigger as more artists join the Stroud Artists Cooperative. #stroud #stroudartists #stroudartistscooperative #lansdownhallandgallery #art #fundayout #supportforlocalartists
