Thank you for visiting Cogglesford Watermill today! 🌾

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our milling day – it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the sights, sounds, and heritage of the mill in action.

We had lots of interest in our Milling Experiences, where you can get hands-on and discover the traditional process of turning grain into flour. During the experience, you’ll learn about the history of the mill, see the machinery up close, and even have a go at milling yourself – a great opportunity to step back in time and try something truly unique.

A huge well done to our volunteer Sheila, who recently took part in the Great UK WaterBlitz – a nationwide citizen science project monitoring the health of our waterways.

This spring, over 4,700 volunteers tested more than 2,300 sites across the UK, creating one of the largest snapshots of freshwater health ever gathered. The findings highlight both challenges and successes: while over half of waterways showed poor water quality, the project also shows the power of community action in protecting our environment.

We’re incredibly proud Sheila contributed to this vital work right here in our local area. 💙

Every test helps build a clearer picture of what’s happening beneath the surface—and shows how individuals can make a real difference.

Three cheers for David! 🎉

Today marks 3 years since David trained as a miller at Cogglesford Watermill – and what a star he’s become. From milling beautiful stone-ground flour to keeping the machinery spotless, he’s always going the extra mile…often literally, popping in for extra milling days.

Happy Mill-iversary, David – it would be a little less floury and a lot less fun without you.

👉 Inspired by David and fancy giving milling a go? We’re always looking for new volunteers! Get in touch to find out more and we’ll help train you up.
