One Paved Court

One Paved Court Art Gallery One Paved Court is an artist-run contemporary art gallery in the heart of Richmond, London.

We support artists wanting to show innovative, challenging work. We offer visitors an exciting programme of serious and stimulating contemporary art, and the opportunity to engage directly with artists working in a range of media, through evening openings, artist’s talks and workshops. We show work from internationally recognised, to local or emerging contemporary artists, and we invite artists to submit proposals for independent artist-led shows.

Today is the final day of Mundane Shrine II. Do catch it if you can. The gallery is open 12 - 5pm today.

Thank you so much to Rosalita Baldassin & Relish Curation for a really thought provoking show.

Together, the works in the exhibition reveal how the ordinary is continuously shaped by ritual and attention, allowing overlooked gestures and objects to accrue symbolic and emotional weight.

Thank you to all the brilliant exhibiting artists:

Although the title Mundane Shrine II, may initially seem like an oxymoron, the works featured in the exhibition slowly reveal how the terrestrial and the sacred are not contradictory but exist in continual dialogue.

Everyday objects become catalysts for epiphanies, evoking nostalgia, vulnerability, and reflections on hierarchy and the order of things. Through domestic interiors and familiar objects, viewers encounter moments of reflection, memory, reverence, and secular sanctity all throughout the exhibition.
In Mundane Shrine II, habits become rituals, mugs and piles of dishes turn to relics, and windows look outwards as much as they look inwards – inviting viewers to reflect on how they inhabit and live certain spaces, to reconsider the overlooked, the precious and the ephemeral to reconstruct their own altars.

Many thanks & congratulations to Road Rage Studio for putting on a fascinating show ‘In Between’ at the gallery during January. We were treated to such an insightful artists talk on Saturday, where 5 of the artists generously shared their inspiration & processes with us. We heard about the different attitudes each had to their audience, whether there was a message, whether they hoped to make their audience feel something, or whether they don’t really care!
They spoke about learning the value of collaboration, especially with sound designers, and with friends - Wyatt spoke about a friend in Kansas who wrote & Recorded a song for him.
The show is now over and a new show will open soon. Watch this space!
