Fabulous exhibition launching this Saturday at 11am, come and join us at the Museum of Lancashire!

This exhibition ran from the 29th November 2014 - 15th February 2015 at the Museum of Lancashire. The Sikh Fortress Turban Exhibition (an object an on loan from the British Museum) offered an opportunity for me to facilitate creative work about place and identity with members of the north west Sikh community. Creative work took place in Manchester and Preston. The theme we worked with was 'house' and people of diverse age groups made their own house. I also photographed two Nagar Kirtan events that took place in Preston on the 18th May and 24th August in Preston. All this work and other consultation with the local Sikh community culminated in making my own interactive educational artwork using a dollhouse as a symbol of a Gurdwara (Sikh Temple) and the Sikh community. The house is a two up two down style house in honour of the first Gurdwara in Preston that was in this style (their 50th anniversary is in 2014).This artwork will become part of the Lancashire County Council Museum Loan Service to be offered to schools and community groups in and around Lancashire to raise awareness about Sikhism. A big thank you to the local North West Sikh community, Lancashire County Council, The British Museum and Lancashire County Council Museum Service.

Lots of fun was had today at the Queen's Lancashire Regiment Museum. Families had a go at making Trench Art Snakes from recycled objects such as ties and plastic carrier bags for stuffing. That's definitely a more fun way to recycle!
