BHM Anti-Apartheid Exhibition The Global Anti-Apartheid Movement in Norwich - Black History Month 2013. A free exhibition at Norw

Bringing together local and global history, this free two week long exhibition will explore Norwich’s contribution to the anti-apartheid movement in the 1970s and 1980s. Housed at Norwich Millennium Library between the 15th and 31st October, the ‘Global Anti-Apartheid Movement in Norwich’ exhibition will trace the involvement of local students, politicians and businesses in the international consu

mer boycott of apartheid South Africa. Scheduled to coincide with Norfolk’s October 2013 celebrations for Black History Month, displays will include posters, film, audio clips and documents from the archives of the Anti-Apartheid Movement (AAM) housed in the Bodleian Library at the University of Oxford. Ultimately the aim of the exhibition is to encourage visitors to think about the relationship between the ‘local’ and the ‘global’ histories, whilst thinking through the extent to which the region is politically and culturally connected to specific locations around the world. The hope is to also raise important questions regarding the extent to which racial conflict in South Africa fed into local debates about race and migration in Britain.

The 'street anti-apartheid movement' exhibition is welcoming everyone in the forum until 31st Oct. Do not miss it!
