What a wonderful evening celebrating some of the people who give so generously to The Sherborne. ❤️

It was a chance to pause, say thank you and recognise the extraordinary contribution of our volunteers, with Sally Cannon there to present certificates of appreciation to those who have given over 100, 200, 300 and even an incredible 500 hours of their time to The Sherborne. ✨

And, of course, no celebration is complete without something delicious. Huge thanks to our new Head Chef Cory Benham and his brilliant team for an incredible spread.

To all our volunteers: thank you. The Sherborne simply wouldn’t be the same without you. 🥂

September at The Sherborne ✨

Next in our September programme, join us for the opening night of a new season of carefully chosen cinema, presented in partnership with Cinemathèque.

🎬 The Mastermind
Monday 14 September
Bar opens: 6.30pm
Film begins: 7.30pm
Tickets: £12.50

Kelly Reichardt quietly turns the traditional heist film inside out in this thoughtful and wonderfully unconventional crime story, starring Josh O’Connor as an amateur art thief whose seemingly perfect plan begins to unravel.

Filled with quiet tension, dry humour and beautifully observed detail, the film also features Alana Haim, Hope Davis, John Magaro, Gaby Hoffmann and Bill Camp.

Something powerful is gathering in the garden.

From 7 September, thirteen sculptural figures by acclaimed British-Trinidadian artist Zak Ové will stand together at The Sherborne in a striking new formation.

'Invisible Man and the Masque of Blackness' is a peaceful assembly: resolute, dignified and quietly commanding. The work invites us to consider identity, visibility and the stories carried across cultures and generations.

The installation will remain in the garden for one year, changing with the light, landscape and seasons.

📆 Opens Monday 7 September

🌊 From the sea, with a little Dorset magic.✨

Hand-dived jumbo scallop, turnip fondant, Granny Smith apple and toasted hazelnut, finished with beurre noisette.

Sweet scallop. Sharp green apple. Earthy turnip. Brown butter and hazelnut bringing warmth and richness.

A beautiful balance of flavours, and a taste of what’s coming from Head Chef Cory Benham and his kitchen at The Sherborne.

Our menus look to the landscape around us, from Dorset’s fields and gardens to its hedgerows and coast, allowing brilliant seasonal ingredients to speak for themselves.

Come hungry.

We are delighted that Sherborne has been named Dorset Town of Culture 2027.

This is a wonderful recognition of the creativity, heritage and cultural energy that runs throughout our town, from its artists, makers and performers to its schools, community groups, venues and independent organisations.

The Sherborne was proud to support the successful bid, and we look forward to working with partners across the town to help shape an ambitious, welcoming and genuinely collaborative year of culture in 2027.

There is much more to come, and we cannot wait to share it.

Last night was a triumph. ⚔️

The swords flashed, the laughs landed, the garden came alive, and Illyria’s The Three Musketeers gave us a proper summer evening of swashbuckling brilliance.

And the good news?

They’re back tonight, and there are still tickets left.

Expect romance, intrigue, comedy, betrayal, revenge and some seriously dazzling swordplay as D’Artagnan joins Athos, Porthos and Aramis for a whirlwind adventure through 17th-century France.

Bring a picnic blanket, gather your favourite people, and come and enjoy outdoor theatre at The Sherborne.

All for one, and one for all.

Tickets still available via the link in bio.
