I spent the day painting at Souter Lighthouse on the rugged North East coastline, Tyne and Wear.

This oil painting is a little larger than I usually work on location but once I had the drawing nailed I found the painting process really enjoyable,

Sometimes you have to just stick to your processes and trust your eye when it comes to mix8ng so many similar shades of white and grey.

A few sketches from life in Newcastle City centre and quayside.

I'm still getting over the cold weather but enjoying working on location again in 2026

It was a real pleasure documenting the planting of a Tree of Hope in Rising Sun country park,

Thanks to for inviting me and for the amazing bereavement support you provide to the area, speaking to people on the day you could tell there is a great community of people happy to have the tree here in North Tyneside.

Here I talk through how I plan a studio painting, why I like to use sketches before commiting anything to paint, and how important composition is in planning a work.

I've got a few studio paintings on the go right now and I'll film some more of my process. If you have a question for me please do fire away and I'll try and answer it with a video demonstration.

Slap Harrys Buzz is long gone, so it was a delight to reconstruct closing time from memory and a couple of black and white photos for this commission.

This was version 2 of the piece, I finished an early evening piece when I had to paint over, they don't always work out by the fun is in the trying!

Here I talk about how I choose to place people into a painting and my practice methods for working quickly in the field

I've been using Pith Sketchbooks coming up 2 years and wanted to share my process, how I think about them as a tool and a safe space for anyone, like me, who beats them selves up if a painting doesn't go to plan.

I had an amazing time as a wildcard in this series of LAotY and it was a fantastic challenge,

I've also been so inspired by all the other artists who took part, the talent on display was very humbling for me,

The team were superstars and made the production so enjoyable to be a part of.
