My Great Grandmothers compulsory purchase for the New Year was the old Moore's Almanac .Which was considered as the guide for the year ahead .First published in 1697 Francis Moore was a self taught physician and astrologer who served King Charles 11 . still available today .Wishing everyone we know a Happy New Year .

how the world has changed The museum now has maps of Tuxford going back to 1799 (need a magnifying glass for that one) image of map 1898 to 1900 We are adding these to our Tuxford history collection if anyone wants to view

We are still very busy doing restoration work on the house over the winter .Thanks to the conservation officers and our volunteers .We will be running some tradition building skills workshops in the spring .

International kindness day Thanks to everyone who has shown kindness to us during the year .Especially to Shani and Victoria who spent a night in the Nissen hut Raising an amazing £580.00 for the Royal British Legion poppy appeal The pleasure of giving to others can bring great rewards

Winter opening the museum is closed on Thursday and Saturday unless we get advanced request for visiting .(Contact Diane )Our special events and activities are still on next on the Talk on the Squatters 11th November 2 pm This is in the cabin where we have some heating .
Look out for the news on Shani and Victoria sleep over for the Royal British Legion and developments on the house restoration days the team of Volunteers and continuing their work in the winter

We are so pleased that Shani and Victoria are going to spend a night in the Nissen hut at the museum In October a night without home comforts time of reflection on the hardships of life. Post W.W.11 due to the housing crisis people lived in these for years They are raising money for the Royal British Legion poppy appeal Shani and Victoria have set up a GoFundMe page. I hope they are still smiling when I bring them their breakfast.
