If you know anyone who may have stories to tell please send them the link below which has details of a drop-in session in Dudley and the email address to contact.

We are working to document stories and preserve experiences of restoration projects in the West Midlands.

Today we - Bill Bevan and Rachel Costigan - finish our role as Public Engagement Coordinator on the Derbyshire Historic Building Trust's Wingfield Station project.

It has been an excellent project to be involved with in many ways.

The skill of the craftsmen restoring the station and the knowledge and enthusiasm of the trustees has been made inspiring.

To see the numbers who have visited during and since the launch programme, and their responses to the restored building, the guided tours and the interpretation panels has been very, very heartening.

Working with a group of people who we have trained, mentored, guided, given feedback to and helped take on a journey as they have researched, written about and given guided tours as part of an intensive co-production scheme has been immensely rewarding. We have been in meetings when research findings slot into place or seen visitors applaud a tour guide give their first station tour.

To see these people coalesce into a friendship group with a shared passion for supporting the station is brilliant and to celebrate with a Christmas lunch just this week is fantastic. That bodes well for the ongoing care and public engagement of the station.
