National Portrait Gallery: Creative Connections

National Portrait Gallery: Creative Connections Creative Connections is a four-year project connecting young people in London with contemporary artists to create new responses to the National Portrait Gallery’s Collection.

The spotlight for the first year of the project is the London borough of Tower Hamlets and portraits and biographies of people who have connections with it. The project is provoking conversations around identity, belonging, connection and legacy. Share your thoughts and stories with us here on Facebook. Dear friends, Listen to the freakiest story ever concerning contemporary art. While following the whereabouts of the lost paintings of the great Russian artist, Kazimir Malevich, we discovered that billions of dollars' worth of artworks were dumped in the basement of the national art museum in Kiev. The story is unbelievable! In a nutshell, Stalin ordered to destroy thousands of paintings and art-works. In those dark days, these masterpieces were considered a great threat to the Soviet nation and the artists were regarded "the enemy of the people". Today, these works of art by Malevich, Kandinsky and others, are worth billions of dollars. Only a few weeks ago one of Malevich painting was sold for 86 million dollars. We invite you, art enthusiasts, to visit our page "Malevich: the lost paintings", as we are planning to reveal new facts and open up fresh discussions. Looking forward to host you!
