PULP Exhibition

PULP Exhibition P.U.L.P. Exhibition May 6th-17th. An exhibition of Plymouth University Students working with, or on, paper, at the R. K. Burt Gallery.

Art students currently studying at the University of Plymouth have put together this exhibition to celebrate the use of paper in the art of today. The works in this exhibition range from drawing and printmaking, to photography and three-dimensional work, exploring a broad range of both traditional and contemporary processes and concepts. When it came to creating the work there was no specific brief apart from one simple rule: it must be created on or with paper. This has resulted in a collection of works that celebrate the traditional notions of paper-based practice, alongside more contemporary and experimental approaches. It goes without saying that all artists recognize the importance of selecting the right media for their practice and the artists showing here are from both Fine Art and Illustration and paper has become the significant base of their practice. Concepts range from process, to abstraction, story telling to working with found objects and this extensive range of ideas is what makes this exhibition so exciting. Artists displaying their work are Rebecca Souster, Laura Rosser, Christopher J. Deeks, Kornelia Cyparska, Lisa Broom, Adam Pimblett, Karen Pearson, Katie Keith, Rosie McEvoy, Julie Chiffers-Roberts, Megan Finch, Daniella Samsum, Juliet Middleton-Batts, and Emma Rowsell. These artists have demonstrated their individual approach to this show and expressed their unique approach to working with a material that is so diverse and different to any other. www.christopherjdeeks.com www.korneliac.blogspot.com www.julietmiddletonbatts.com
