Glass Cloud Gallery Glass Cloud Gallery is a London based, artist run, window gallery. The initiative connects the public

The initiative connects the public with fine art practices by collaborating with businesses to commission highly visible exhibitions in windows for the passing world to see. Glass Cloud exhibitions offer new, thought provoking moments in the everyday, created by London’s most exciting art graduates, emerging and mid career artists. Glass Cloud provides artists with a test bed in the public realm and with it comes new challenges, It encourages artists to question, and push the limits of how they communicate through their practice. The benefits extends beyond our engaging exhibition program as their experiences and learning influences the future of their artistic development. Initiated in 2013 by artist Hannah Luxton, the project began as Footfall Art with an 18 month long residency in the office windows of Macai Construction and Interiors Ltd. Since then Luxton has collaborated with the Walthamstow Village Window Gallery and has a regular residency with the Camden Peoples Theatre, curating yearly exhibitions. In 2018 the project re-branded into Glass Cloud Gallery, and was awarded a National Lottery project grant from the Arts Council. It looks forward to further exhibitions at the Camden Peoples Theatre, the Tin Cafe, Dalston and future collaborations yet to come.. The 2019 exhibition program was kindly supported by Camden Council.

ASHA VAIDYANATH is a London based Indian-born American artist. Words and emotions are central to her practice. Her richly layered compositions explore the intrinsic poetry and contradiction present in the act and process of repetition. She is interested in exploring the idea of freedom within constraint. Her interdisciplinary practice spans hand weaving, sound, photography and printmaking.

I am so excited to return to the with ‘Cræftwork’. A group exhibition celebrating the handmade and heritage crafts in our digital age. The exhibited works demonstrate the artists’ skill, with an emphasis on traditional materials and processes used in contemporary ways. It is an honour present these artists who I greatly admire, many who have inspired me over years.

We are delighted to present Ode to the Façade* by Zachariah Riley . In this new work he repurposes popular animated film characters, transforming them to reflect the worlds they come from, creating an engaging illusion. By manipulating materials and formalistic techniques, Riley explores the theme of control: who holds it? The characters, once mere toys and actors, are now human-sized, their limbs and forms adapting to new roles dictated by their altered scale. Propped, perched and leaning within these swiftly glimpsed spaces, waiting for something else to happen.

Materials typically used for building repairs become the motives through which the work is displayed. Viewed from the street through big windows the characters are flattened, like the single window next to the characters obscured by a plaster brick wall which could easily go unnoticed, but that’s precisely the point. It’s inviting you to look closely; only then will you see that the plaster wall has a soft edge, subtly breathing with the indoor atmosphere. Their presence, both hidden and revealed, challenges the observer to discern the subtle interplay between the familiar and the reimagined, urging a deeper contemplation of boundaries.

We are super excited to announce ’s new exhibition at Glass Cloud !

We hope you’ll join us for our pavement PV next Wednesday windows 🥂

Zachariah Riley’s works rarely take on the same material qualities twice. Made up of assemblages of everyday objects and manufactured mysteries, Riley’s process exists in the hallways of the workshop, the bus ride to the studio, the walk through a shop and the poor quality images that are obscured and go unnoticed in our visual culture’ —

Zachariah Riley (b. 1996, UK) lives and works in London. He is currently studying his MA at the and graduated from , Fine art (2018). Riley’s book ‘Revved Up’ launched at the , London (2023) and he was selected for the John Moores painting prize, Liverpool (2023). Riley has shown internationally at .projects in Thee Process, Australia (2023) Flirt in The Vault, RA, London (2023).
