National Museum of the Royal Navy #throwbackthursday

Week 2 of our look back over the last 14 years of some of our most fantastic projects we’ve designed, both big and small, some local and some in far flung places too!

National Museum of the Royal Navy

Slavery is a hugely emotive subject, and the Royal Navy’s historic campaign for its suppression is a complex one. We created a series of powerful environmental graphics for the Chasing Freedom exhibition, art directing new original photography to develop something strong and quite unique.

We worked closely with the fantastic Deborah Hodson NMRN learning development officer who described the final result as “Stunning”.

Whitehall's small front room on the first floor above the porch jetty, is now home to our Cheam World War One memorial room. The displays in this room explore the lives of some of the individuals local to the area who fought in the Great War. Housed in an original corner display cupboard is a contemporary artwork by @mary_mathieson. The piece commemorates the 67 men, listed on Cheam's War memorial, who never returned from the Great War. On the sculpture at Whitehall, each of the 67 is represented by a knot of red thread tied to a length of rusted barbed wire.

On #RemembranceSunday last week we commemorated all those who have fallen in all wars. Today we acknowledge #RemembranceDay, or #ArmisticeDay, where we remember those who died in the line of duty during WW1 and to acknowledge the anniversary of its official end.
