The Nomad Cinema The roaming pop-up that gives back!
(4)

The Nomad – the intrepid, adventurous roaming pop-up cinema experience. 100% of profits to charity too! On a meandering tour of London and beyond, The Nomad brings magical and memorable film events to an inspiring range of beautiful, unique and diverse screening locations, both indoors and outdoors, throughout the year. Nomad film events embrace and enhance the venue, offering new ways of experiencing an uplifting range of films, from classics and cult to chick flicks and guilty pleasures. Light on its feet and with minimal environmental impact, The Nomad wanders into town, unpacks cinema magic, then disappears into the night, leaving no trace. The Nomad is the younger sibling of the incredible Lexi Cinema in Kensal Rise (the UK’s first social enterprise boutique cinema). More than just providing screenings of great films in appropriately great locations, Nomad events immerse you in the flavour of the film, by creating a festival feel with little extra touches of music, goodie bags, decoration and varied, quality catering. Follow The Nomad – sign up to our newsletter at http://www.whereisthenomad.com and keep up to date... A cinema near you, coming soon…

Thank you to Nicholas for his review of our screening of Man With a Movie Camera in Old Street last Friday ✨🎼

My favourite type of gig or performance event (apart from lectures ofc), has got to be a film with live score. I am not normally fanatical about live music except when it accompanies a great film. …

Man with a Movie Camera 90th Anniversary Score

Still some tickets for a sensational evening of cinema and live music next Friday evening, within the walls of the beautiful, deconsecrated Old Street Church, St Luke’s, now home for the London Symphony Orchestra. Our screening is in partnership with Old Street District.

2019 celebrates the 90th anniversary of Dziga Vertov’s dizzying avant-garde masterpiece. We present this scored for the first time by our regular collaborators, live soundtrack geniuses The Cabinet of Living Cinema.

Documenting Soviet city life with a dazzling mix of imagery and experimental film techniques, the greatest non-fiction film of all time was shot on the streets of Kiev, Moscow and Odessa, and edited by Vertov's partner Elizaveta Svilova. This visual manifesto proclaimed the “Death of Cinema” - in 1929! - and at 90 years old still has the power to shock.

You can get your tickets from: http://www.whereisthenomad.com/man-movie-camera-1929/2019/09/06

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)

Shake it up, baby!

Teenage Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) is a legend in his own time thanks to his uncanny skill at cutting classes and getting away with it. Intending to make one last grand duck-out before graduation, Ferris calls in sick, "borrows" a Ferrari, and embarks on a one-day bacchanal through the streets of Chicago. Dogging Ferris' trail at every turn is high-school principal Rooney (Jeffrey Jones), determined to catch Bueller in the act of class-cutting. Writer/director and master of the teen oeuvre, John Hughes (The Breakfast Club) once again weds satire, slapstick, and social commentary to create a cult favourite.

The Hoxton Hotel Slacker's Lounge screening is indoors with seating provided.

Man With A Movie Camera 1929

This year celebrates the 90th anniversary of Dziga Vertov’s fabulous silent movie, Man With A Movie Camera (1929).
