Dirty Laundry PV & Performance 2nd December 2023. 6pm - 12pm. 8:30pm Piano by Roseanne Snel. 9pm - Gallery- Dance by Mai Butoh. Airing your dirty laundry is a big no no in todays world.
C J Simpson is always looking for a way to do it! After graduating from the Royal College of Art this year he undertook a month long, solo residency at the Lichtenberg Studios in Berlin, inviting other artists to work with him to create the film ‘dirty laundry/red alert’ which will preview at The Royal Academy of Art to invited guests.
The film focuses on Dame Gothel in the brothers Grimm tale of Rapunzel. His paintings and sculptures reflect the idea that to lift the veil is an act of protest, to peer beneath, to see the ugly truth as enlightenment.
Join him and his peers as they ‘air’ their dirt laundry through painting, sculpture, music, sound, costume and performance.
All prints are for sale and all money made will go to the artists to recoup their costs and help them take this alarming show to Edinburgh and then back to Berlin.
