Grantchester Mill c.1890. The photograph shows Grantchester Mill before its destruction by fire in October 1928. King’s Mill Cambridge c.1890.
The photograph is thought likely to depict King's Mill, Cambridge, although the available architectural detail is insufficient for complete confirmation. The industrial appearance of the building, together with its waterside setting and twin chimneys, corresponds well with known views of King's Mill during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. These photographs are of a previously unpublished Victorian photograph album acquired at auction in Ely in 2026. It is one of a series documenting Cambridge and locations throughout Cambridgeshire. The Senate House Cambridge c.1890.
These are particularly valuable images because comparatively few Victorian photographs show the interior of the Senate House in use during official proceedings. Together with MBHPC-015, it documents both the exterior arrival of attendees and the formal business taking place inside.
These photographs are of a previously unpublished Victorian photograph album acquired at auction in Ely in 2026. It is one of a series documenting Cambridge and locations throughout Cambridgeshire.
