Last night to celebrate the 30 th Anniversary of the Leighton Buzzard Canal Society at the Globe Inn in Linslade, Leighton Buzzard members had a celebration meal.
The centrepiece of the table was a special cake in the form of a canal narrow boat made by Pauline of the Ridgmont Station tea rooms.
To end the evening, and mark the Anniversary, a watercolour painting of a coal carrying narrow boat passing under a bridge near to the Globe was presented to Carol the new Landlady of the Globe Inn public house for display. The painting was donated by Committee member Mike Bowley supported by Secretary Andrew Robinson and Treasurer John Toy .John, one of the Founder members of the Society, had arranged the event which was attended by 20 members
The Canal Society is a group of canal enthusiasts including some boat owners, who have a special interest in working narrow boats and the rich heritage that the canals of the country offer.
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday 25th October at 3pm in Barn, Heath & Reach to elect the committee for the next year and discuss future activities Meetings a take place most months and are informal.
