Hi members and prospective members and interested parties.
With the present situation and no meetings let’s try and get something off the ground even if I am in Harefield Hospital and John is not mobile at this time.
I want you to dig out some photos from the late sixties early seventies eighties, post them here showing anything working/carrying on the Grand Union Canal between Brum and London.
If you find anything in the Leighton Linslade area all the better.
So let’s see how many we get for the interest of our readers and hopefully increasing our membership.
Don’t forget to say what where and when if possible. Thanks Andrew Robinson (Secretary LBCS)

Hello everyone ,
I hope you are keeping well.
During this difficult time we have all being doing our best to avoid contact with everybody and unfortunately that means separate ourselves from our friends and family.

I am forced to to stay within my property boundary being of a certain age and health. I cannot carry on my hobby of photography or volunteer at the Leighton Buzzard Steam Railway because we have suspended services. I hope you will visit us once we get going again.

At least we still have the canal Tow Path to get away from it. There are still some less frequented areas for runners to have their daily exercise.

Getting back to our schedule I again advise now that all our meetings at The Globe and visits are suspended for the foreseeable future.
Your Committee have put together a program of events which I will publish in the not too distant future.

I will prepare the next Winding Point Magazine and see whether I can get it printed if not, I will give the on line version another try.if I have your e-mail address.
Please keep an eye on the page here for details of future events when we are able to recommence activities.

Keep safe and keep well

Andrew
PS Last trip on water was the Thames as some rubbish boats travelling towards Tower Bridge.

Dear All,

Note to all Members and friends of the Leighton Buzzard Canal Society
BREWERY TRIP 2018 12th JUNE 2018 7.30pm PROMPT start.

As you are aware I have arranged a trip to Towcester Brewery one that was popular so we are going there again.
I have now fixed up for the trip to be held on TUESDAY 12th June 2018 7.30 pm prompt. The evening starts with a drink in the bar which is set up as a traditional bar with many varieties of ale from the breweries products. The tour is followed by some samples. This is a small brewery so you will not involve a lot of walking. Afterwards I have arranged for a local pizza company will visit and we can have our supper there. (Please pay for this individually).

The tour with samples costs £10.00 per person. You purchase your own pizza.

The Brewery is located just behind the High Street in the Mill Chantry Lane Towcester (NN126YY) Entrance through a narrow one way street directly in front of the market place (Where cars are parked in front) on the right as travelling North. For the exit continue around the lane back to the High Street. There is a pay and display car park in right outside the breweries front door. Check whether you need to pay, time Disabled badge etc).

I shall be glad if you will let me know as soon as you can so I can so I can advise the Brewery keep a tally on expected numbers. £10.00 deposit please.
We can then sort out transport sharing so everyone will not need to bring their car. Number 10-12 need to be booked. I have 8 so far.

The last trip here was excellent with an informative talk given by one of the Directors and the beer no need for me to say was excellent. There will be an opportunity for you to purchase supplies of off sales afterwards.
Maybe some members we have not seen for a while-- it will be worth it!
Plenty of hotels in Towcester!

If you are interested in working narrow boats LBSC Please note I have included your name as a Member or you have not renewed shortly ago . Please forgive me if you want your name removed from our membership list. |if you wish to participate again in our activities please remit renewal details to John or me cost is now only £5.00 per annum for the whole of your family. Let Andrew or John have your cheque or cash foe Membership as soon as possible. If you don't have me Address message me.

Worth a visit!

Secretary Andrew M G Robinson

Last night to celebrate the 30 th Anniversary of the Leighton Buzzard Canal Society at the Globe Inn in Linslade, Leighton Buzzard members had a celebration meal.
The centrepiece of the table was a special cake in the form of a canal narrow boat made by Pauline of the Ridgmont Station tea rooms.
To end the evening, and mark the Anniversary, a watercolour painting of a coal carrying narrow boat passing under a bridge near to the Globe was presented to Carol the new Landlady of the Globe Inn public house for display. The painting was donated by Committee member Mike Bowley supported by Secretary Andrew Robinson and Treasurer John Toy .John, one of the Founder members of the Society, had arranged the event which was attended by 20 members
