Poems and Posters still flying in this week for the #marinelitterlearners competition!

We have two more contestants taking up the literary activity this week with some marine litter poems...
- Blaire Cobb (P1) from Ladyloan Primary School composed her poem, named "Belong", cleverly communicating that only the 3 Ps should go into the toilet!

- Microplastics arguably have the greatest impact on our seas and its creatures, something that this acrostic poem by Skye Hayes (P5) from Colliston Primary highlights so poignantly!

Up next we have three entries that bravely and brilliantly tackle the 3 Ps poster activity, with only some minor hilarity regarding one of the Ps reported (don't worry, no points deducted for having fun!)...
- Anna Robertson (P3) from Colliston Primary cuts to the chase, highlighting some of the worst non-flushable offenders out there (wet wipes and nappies!). Using recycled cardboard for her poster also really impressed!

- Tilly (P3) and Conor (P6) Cuthill from Colliston Primary teamed up this week to create their poster with a very clear "Only 3 Ps" message. Bold colours and detailed illustrations get the point across so well!

- Holly Hart (P1) from Colliston Primary (winner of our Star Arts and Crafts Award last month), returns this week with another strong entry, distinguishing the key difference between a toilet and a bin and what they are for. Don't get them muddled, even "flushable" wet wipes can't go down the loo!

Great work this week from all our contestants, highlighting these messages are vital to protecting our marine environment, and the 3 Ps rule is something we can all practice! Highlights announced later today...

Enjoy this....

Quick off the mark this week to submit their entry for our #marinelitterlearners competition is Eilidh McLachlan (P3) from Colliston Primary with this very timely message...

Having witnessed the sorry state that some local beauty spots were left in last weekend, this acrostic poem perfectly sums up why being responsible about litter can solve the problem. Brilliantly apt entry Eilidh, well done for leading the charge!

This might be a useful book about returning to school?

This is a wonderful illustrated book for children to help them understand returning to school during these times, it explains all about the ‘bubble’ in which they will all be in to help keep them safe.

Another A 92 walk!

2020 has been designated the year of Coast and Waters by the Scottish Government, but that's unfortunately been overshadowed by the current pandemic. Brighter Bervie intended to celebrate our privileged location on the North Sea Coast at the mouth of the Bervie Water, but planned activities have been severely curtailed.
Anyway, come for a short virtual trip this evening down the river and into the sea.

@alison chandler thank you for mentioning Easter crafts today when we passed your garden. My wee ones painted these and have been busy painting rocks too!
Karen Kennedy has been the most wonderful supporter of The Way Through Project since it began, as she has with so many projects to support our community and our heritage. We are all indebted to her and know how difficult these times are for her. I made these 4 eggs for her with some of her favourite things and the Easter Bunny just delivered them.
