This time last week, we were kicking off the 78th Windrush Heritage & Legacy Festival, and what an amazing day it was at Landseer Park! ☀️🌴🍹

A huge thank you to our sponsors, the Arts Council England - ipswich busses - MP Jack Abbott, the 29th Ipswich Girl Guides and all our incredible volunteers, stallholders, acts, local press and of course, everyone who came on the day!! 🥳

We couldn’t have done it without you and there are lots more videos coming soon! 📸 It was an amazing day of unity and community coming together to celebrate and commemorate the Windrush generations.

⭐️ Today’s the day!!!! ⭐️ Join us for WINDRUSH 78, the Heritage & Legacy Music Festival at Landseer Park, Ipswich! Free entry, free shuttle buss to and from the event - AND - we kick off with a parade from Clapgate Lane featuring a steel band, stilt walkers, and street dancers. We’ll be back at Landseer Park by midday, with loads to keep the kids busy. We have an amazing line-up of local and international talent, a fantastic selection of food, rum stalls, a bar, and local independent retailers!!

🌟 THANK YOU SO MUCH from the team Ipswich Windrush Society! 🌟 Since the story about our event banners being ripped down, we’ve been completely blown away by the support from all of you. It’s beyond heartwarming to see cash donations coming through our door – your generosity of time and spirit truly shines against adversity! 🤩

We’ve also had an incredible influx of support, with offers of help from all over Ipswich and have now made our Volunteer quota for the day... Our team is growing and It really shows how amazing our community is when we come together! 💖

FINAL FEW DAYS - We’re gearing up for the WINDRUSH 78 HERITAGE & LEGACY MUSIC FESTIVAL this Saturday, 20th June, at Landseer Park, just off the Clapgate Lane entrance! 🎶 It’s going to be a vibrant, fun-filled day packed with free family activities, music, dance, and celebrations honouring the Windrush Generations! 🍹 Can’t wait to see you there! 🎉

⭐️ Leading our parade on the 20th of June (this Saturday!) we have local talent .dance and his dance group! ⭐️ Self-taught dance teacher Martell runs a popular dance school in Ipswich that focuses on building confidence and community spirit. Expect to see street dance styles, including hip-hop, popping, locking, and dancehall… Join the parade and show us your moves - suitable for all ages!

Please Share! 📢 A big thank you to Abygail for covering this story! It’s incredibly frustrating for our volunteers, who give up their own time to help promote the festival and make it a success. While we’re trying to find the funny side - saying the missing banners have become “collectors’ items” - every banner taken impacts our ability to spread the word about this free community event - so please share our posts to help spread the word on our final week!

We’d really appreciate their safe return; you can drop them off at The Reflection Room in the Sailmakers, Ipswich town centre - no questions asked!

Despite this setback, we’re thrilled to see that community support for the Heritage & Legacy Music Festival is growing! 🎉 We look forward to another fantastic event, featuring kids’ entertainment, amazing food, local makers’ stalls, and live performances for everyone to enjoy.
