Chopin in Scotland.

Our splendid 18th Century Assembly Room played host to this unique event on Saturday night, when the illustrated story of Frederic Chopin's time in Scotland thoroughly engaged us.
The music was sublime and the story fascinated us all. Our heartfelt thanks to Anna and Marcin of the The Jane Stirling Project for entertaining and enthralling us.

We look forward to welcoming you all again in the future.

Keep watching for future musical events at Low Parks Museum.

It was on this day in 1775 that Ethan Allen was captured by the British.
He had successfully led his Green Mountain Boys in the capture of Fort Ticonderoga in May, earlier in the year of 1775. Along with Benedict Arnold and his two militias, the rebel leaders shared command to capture the fort, which was defended only by a small group of garrisoned British forces, soldiers of the 26th Regiment of Foot.
This was the first rebel victory of the Revolutionary War and, as well as securing a key strategic post, it served as a considerable boost to morale, ultimately leading to America's declaration of independence from the British in 1776.

Low Parks Museum

Low Parks Museum in Hamilton is a 4-star Visit Scotland attraction, situated in the Low Parks of the Duke of Hamilton's former estate. Its two historic buildings are of national importance - Portland, built in 1696 as the private home of David Crawford, secretary and lawyer to the 3rd Duke and Duchess of Hamilton, and Hamilton Palace Riding School, built in 1837 by Alexander, 10th Duke of Hamilton. The museum traces South Lanarkshire’s history, with displays relating to Hamilton Palace and the Royal Burghs; early settlement; working life and agriculture; design, industry and technology; and also the story of the local regiment, The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles). A programme of temporary exhibitions and displays also features. There is a small cafe serving a range of sandwiches, soups and tasty snacks.

Entry to the Low Parks Museum is free and parking is also free.

History Project: It is 125 years since Bothwell Road Park was gifted to the people of Hamilton and the Surrounding area. We want to recognize the importance the park has had to the local community who have used it over this time. This is where we need your help. Do you have story’s about the time you spent in the park? Do you have photographs? Did you play in the park as a kid? Did you paddle with the big feet? Did you get your 1st kiss at the statue? Did you perform on the band stand? All stories are welcome. And any photos can be scanned The stories and pictures will be used in a display for the local community later in the year If you can help get in touch https://www.facebook.com/bothwellroad/
