Develop your creative practice in The Everybody Studios We are an independent Art School, Gallery and Artist Studios committed to providing opportunity and engagement with art for all ages and all abilities. Our community of emerging and established artists, designers and creative Artist Educators support us in delivering a wide range of exciting programmes at the forefront of creative practice. We work with partners, local communities, schools, colleges, universities and the NHS to develop and deliver activities which encourage and create opportunity for artistic endeavour. Our regular programme of activities include courses, workshops, events, training and exhibitions. By combining classic techniques with inspirational approaches we have the joy of witnessing first hand the transformational effects of art on people's lives every day.

During the Summer, we visited Scarborough with our fantastic Board of Trustees for an away day filled with creative inspiration.

The day was organised by Board Member, Chris Sands, who is currently supporting the cultural regeneration of Scarborough through his work with social enterprise, This Is Scarborough.

Led by Chris, we had the pleasure of visiting a number of creative and cultural spaces across the town, seeing first-hand how art and culture can play a powerful role in transforming places. From creating opportunities for local artists to supporting creative businesses to thrive in disused spaces, Scarborough is showing what can happen when culture is placed at the forefront of a town’s future.

Our away day was a really valuable opportunity to step outside the day-to-day and think creatively about our organisation. A huge thank you to everyone who welcomed us and shared their work and ideas – we all came away with lots of inspiration and ideas!

And, of course, a big thank you to our wonderful Board for their ongoing support and belief in our vision of creating a place where art and creativity are accessible to everybody. We’re excited to be on this journey with you (and excited to welcome Katie, our newest member!) 💜

🌿 Slow down, get creative and connect with nature 🌿

Nature weaving is a gentle, mindful activity that encourages us to slow down, explore our creativity and appreciate the colours, shapes and textures of the natural world.

Fancy giving it a go? Join us for a relaxing day of Nature Weaving:

📅 Saturday 24 October
⏰ 10am - 3pm

Working with sticks, branches, natural fibres, dried flowers and grasses, you’ll learn simple weaving techniques to create your own seasonal piece. Artist and educator Sarah O’Boyle will guide you through the process, helping you experiment with colour, texture and form. No previous experience needed!

🌿 Want to dive a little deeper into nature weaving? 🌿

Why not join our four-week Nature Weaving short course, starting Saturday 7 November.

You'll have plenty of time to experiment with natural materials, develop your skills and enjoy the gentle rhythm of working with your hands. By the end of the course, you'll have created your own collection of seasonal pieces to display at home or in the garden.

There is still time to sign up for our next Bloom Network event on Saturday 17 October, 10:30am - 1pm 🌸

When everything around us can feel fast-paced, having time to slow down and reconnect with ourselves and our surroundings can help to support our wellbeing.

Sarah will be inviting you to 'take notice' and focus on being present in the moment by exploring natural materials, textures and shapes.

Our Bloom Networks are a safe space for women and gender diverse people to connect with others who care about creativity and wellbeing. Networks are free to attend and you don't need any previous experience to come along.

✨ We're delighted to announce a new research and development project, made possible with funding from Arts Council England and National Lottery players!

Over the next ten months, we'll be working alongside artists, communities and partners to develop a bold, inclusive and sustainable artist-led strategy that supports artists to thrive and makes creativity accessible to more people.

This project is all about:

🤝 Listening to our artistic and creative communities
💡 Learning from inspiring artist-led organisations
🌱 Building a more inclusive and sustainable future

As part of the project, we'll be bringing together an artist steering group, a community focus group and a Real Living Wage traineeship for an emerging artist, ensuring different voices and experiences help shape our future.

We'll be sharing updates, insights and opportunities to get involved along the way, so watch this space!

Slow down, take notice and find time to ground yourself at our next Bloom Network 😮‍💨 a place for women and gender diverse people to make new connections, build confidence, and socialise with other individuals who love all things creative.

After a break over the summer, we are incredibly excited to be starting back in October with Sarah O'Boyle. Sarah will be inviting you to:

💚 Slow down and be present in the moment, focusing on natural materials and small details as a grounding and mindfulness practice

🎨 We’re recruiting: Artistic Programme Development Trainee 🎨

Are you an early-career artist or arts professional looking to develop your skills, experience and networks?

We’re looking for an enthusiastic person to join the Everybody Arts team for a paid eight-month traineeship, helping us explore how we can better support artists, engage communities and strengthen visual arts opportunities across Calderdale.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in artist development, community engagement, research, cultural leadership and organisational strategy – while bringing your own ideas, experiences and creative perspective to the project.

You don’t need lots of professional experience. We’re looking for someone with a developing creative practice, an interest in socially engaged arts and communities, and plenty of curiosity and keenness to learn.

⏰ 22 hours per week, usually Tuesday - Thursday
📅 8-month fixed-term contract

🎨 How does creativity support our health and wellbeing?

Earlier this summer, we welcomed 18 members of our community to Everybody Arts for a creative consultation to help shape creative health across West Yorkshire.

Through creativity, movement and conversation, people shared their experiences of how art can help us feel grounded, express ourselves, connect with others and support our wellbeing. Their insights will help shape the wider development of the West Yorkshire Creative Health Strategy.

🍂 What’s on this October at Everybody Arts?

We’ve got a packed month of creative workshops coming up, with plenty of opportunities to make, learn and try something new.

From Life Drawing and Wheel Throwing to Lo-Fi Print and Painting Birds, there’s something for all kinds of creative interests. Plus, younger artists can get stuck in with our Saturday Art Club and Holiday Art Club during half term.

Whether you’re trying something for the first time or developing your skills, our workshops are friendly, relaxed and open to everybody. They are particularly well suited to those seeking a creative activity, some mindful me-time or as a taster before signing up to one of our courses 💜

🎨 NEW! Saturday Art Club for kids 🎨

We’re so excited to be launching a brand new monthly Saturday Art Club at Everybody Arts!

Designed for children aged 6 - 12, sessions will take place on the second Saturday of every month, giving young artists a regular space to make, play, experiment and use their imaginations.

🌊 Our first session: Under the Sea
📅 Saturday 10 October
⏰ 10.30am - 12pm

We’ll be diving into:

• Origami fish – fold and decorate colourful sea creatures
• Snappy Sharks – create a fearsome (or friendly!) shark
• Underwater Collage – build an underwater world filled with colour, texture and marine life
• Seaweed Limbo – get moving with a fun underwater-themed game

🌿 Bloom Network is back!

After a little break over the summer, we’re so excited to be starting our Bloom Network sessions again this October, when we’ll be joined by the lovely Sarah O’Boyle.

📅 Saturday 17 October, 10.30am–1pm

🌸 For women and gender diverse people

Sarah will invite us to slow down, get curious and take notice of the natural world around us. Together, we’ll:

• Explore natural materials and small details as a gentle grounding and mindfulness practice
• Take a closer look at natural sample boards, noticing the finer details
• Focus on patterns, textures, shapes and shades rather than the object itself
• Hear about Sarah’s own creative career and experiences

We’ll have a gentle start at 10.30am, with the session unfolding in a relaxed and organic way. Feel free to stay for as long or as little as you like, up until 1pm.

Can’t make October? We’d love to see you at our November session, when we’ll be joined for the first time by Mel Davie from Hey Nature!, who’ll introduce us to her practice of Nature Notebooks.
