The next resilience grant recipient we are hearing from is the Scottish Mask and Puppet Centre about their project PUPPET SPOON! 🎉
"SMPC have developed with support from GCAN an accessible puppet idea for children, parents, nurseries and teachers using simple and easily obtainable materials. Since it has become impossible during the Corona Virus pandemic to carry on teaching and working with groups in the close-up interactive way, that had become the hallmark of our very successful rod puppet workshop - we needed to find another way.
We decided to adapt ready-made wooden spoons that are cost effective, easily available, with the body and head of the puppet all one. Simple design materials can be used; pens, paint, pipe cleaners, paper, googly and stick on eyes, recyclable household bottle tops and small pieces of fabric and buttons. In this way puppets can be made with minimal instruction and used to tell a story; design and make your own character, an animal or even the odd alien!"
The kits were posted out and allowed children and adults to experiment with their own character ides ⭐
Well aren't they delightful! 🤩 take a look to see the making process 👉
