With the permission of people here, I wonder if it might be a nice gesture if some people - especially if you cannot make the service on Monday - would be able to write just a few words about Alison and how they knew/were helped by her. Further to that, I will collect a few of the thoughts of people I know. I would then collect them together and leave them for her family.

This is entirely optional, and is up to your own discretion, but if you would like to, feel free to post them on this comment, or the one from Tuesday.

For those of you who will not see the original message directly, some very sad news has come to light.

From Christelle Le Riguer:
"It is with regret that I inform you of the recent passing of Mrs Alison Peden, Teaching & Student Support Administrator within the School of Humanities.

Alison’s family wish to hold a ‘Celebration of Alison’s life’ in the University Chapel on Monday 14th January at 7.00pm and would like all those who wish to, to come along. Alison’s favourite music will be playing, slide show (don’t know that she would have been happy not being able to vet them beforehand!) and a remembrance book for folks to put their thoughts in and this will be bound afterwards and given to her daughters.

I would be very grateful if you could pass on this message to anyone who knew Alison but is no longer directly connected to the University."

I'm sure all our thoughts go out to Alison's family and I wish them strength and comfort at this time.

Equal Marriage for Scotland

Ladies and gentlemen: You're moment to make history! Support Equal marriage rights in Scotland. Its long overdue. And lets face it, if we are to call ourselves developed or advanced or civil in any way, we need this legislation to pass. So get on it!

We believe that any loving, committed couple should have access to equal partnership rights regardless of whether they are in same-sex or mixed-sex relationship.
