Preparations are continuing apace for Pageant 2022.

There will be a modified and hotrod section for the first time, if you've a hot hatch, restomod or altered vehicle that you'd like to show, we'd love to have it there. You will have a dedicated display area. No vehicle age limit applies for these entries.

Supercars of any age are also welcome.

We'd also be very happy to welcome more European and Japanese classics please, pre 1997 manufacture. Clubs and individual cars.

ALL exhibitor vehicles, including club cars, will pay only £5 for the car, driver and 1 passenger. More passengers will be charged at the standard gate prices. Bear in mind also that this is for 2 DAYS admission - you will be given a pass.

Motorcycle clubs, we'd also like to have more of you with us.

Our 'Car Corral' vehicle sales area will return, where you can display and hopefully sell your car to one of the many thousands of visitors. Cost is £25 for the 2 days of the Pageant.

More news will follow soon.

PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE THIS POST TO KEEP INFORMED.

We are very sorry to announce that we will not be presenting the Enfield Pageant of Motoring in 2021. The uncertainty of the Covid 19 situation and changing guidelines mean that its isn't possible to plan and run the event in a viable and safe manner, especially as cancellation insurance is no longer available, vital to us as a charitable fundraising event.

We intend, however, to harness some of the energy and enthusiasm generated for the Pageant by opening Whitewebbs Museum on every Sunday, between Easter and the end of October, rather than just on the last Sunday of the month. This is in addition to the normal Tuesdays. Anyone who wishes to volunteer to help us for Sunday openings please come forward - you don't need to be an EDVVS member.

We also hope to host smaller scale car shows and autojumbles throughout the summer. All details will be published on social media and our website.

Of course, all of this is subject to the Covid regulations applicable at the time.

At the height of production in the 1950s and '60s Detroit was building a staggering 16,000 cars a day. Many were driven for less than a decade before being scrapped.
Having lost 90 per cent of its value in the first seven to ten years there seemed little point in fixing a Ford or Chevy, or even Cadillac or Lincoln, when it was cheaper to get a brand new one on credit.
Although some naturally got crashed, the majority of the cars in these photos were likely damaged when they were dropped into these enormous piles...

We're open on Tuesdays, from 10. The lady on the right is riding what is believed to be the 1898 Holden that we have in the Museum. See it on the 2nd floor, it's a wonderful creation from the earliest days of motorcycling. (The lady on the left is Beatrice Shilling, a renowned motorcycle racer and engineer, riding a New Imperial)
