It's mid-August and the many festivals in Edinburgh are well underway. Whether you love or loathe the bustle around George Square, we have an oasis of calm for you: the sound exhibition 'A Carrying Stream' is open everyday from 10am-6pm throughout the Fringe.

Drawing on the Sound Archive of the University of Edinburgh’s School of Scottish Studies Archives, the deep listening experience offers visitors a sensory journey around Scotland through the sounds of its people and places.

The exhibition is open to the public and admission is free.

Today we're highlighting one of our favourite archives - Roslin Glass Slides.

This is a collection of nearly 3,500 late 19th/early 20th century glass plate slides from the Roslin Institute. This is a unique and diverse collection but probably of particular interest to those looking at agriculture, veterinary studies and colonialism.

You can access the collection at our Image Collections -> https://images.is.ed.ac.uk/luna/servlet/s/60ga89
