Coburg House Art Studios
7 November ·

Coburg House Gallery is now looking for proposals for exhibitions for 2016. The gallery is on the ground floor of the studio complex with a large glass window fronting onto the street. It is a white-walled space with an industrial feel, iron girders, concrete floor and a split-level mezzanine area.

The gallery is suitable for established and new artists and for solo or group shows. We have had a wide range of exhibitions in different discplines : painting, photography, sculpture, crafts, installation, video and student shows. It is rented out at a very affordable rate to provide a venue where artists can show their work in a professional space.

For terms and conditions, floor plan and photos contact exhibition co-ordinator, David Schofield: email [email protected]

well at least it's not offices, I suppose...

A £14.5 million bid to turn a historic high school into flats has been given the green light – dashing hopes of transforming it into a cultural hub and sparking criticism the move was a “lost opportunity”.

Support the Out of the Blue bid for old Boroughmuir High School site

We believe that the bid from Out of the Blue will benefit the City of Edinburgh in all six of the Council’s pledges. 1. Providing for Edinburgh’s prosperity - the new SME and Social Enterprise businesses run from this space will contribute to the economic impact of the area and the City 2. Ensuring…

Empty council offices to be transformed into arts complex and hotel

Already the old council DWP building at Kings Stables Road/Lady Lawson Street is becoming populated with The Forest arts space and two other sets of independently managed artists studios, now this! Looks like the whole centre is becoming a massive arts village, plus St Margaret's House on London Road and the STudios on Leith and Logie Green Road way (WASPS already well established!).

The site at King's Stables Road in Edinburgh's Grassmarket has lain empty since 2009.

Edinburgh School of Icon Painting

I was recently asked about posting a link, the classes and subject look really interesting, so, as they are somewhat related I am happy to share this one! Let us know when you are hosting an exhibition so we can alert everyone to it here!

Edinburgh School of Icon Painting was founded in September 2013. It is a small school based in the artist hub St. Margaret's House.

There is a group at The Forest Cafe who rent out studios at Castle Terrace (The big 70's building at the end of the street) they have nice sized rooms, big windows lots of light and exhibition space.
