People across County Durham are invited to join local conversations about services and support regarding Dementia. Partners from Durham County Council and the local NHS launched a conversation with the public. This is an opportunity for anyone to share their views and experiences regarding dementia support locally. This is the first stage in a series of conversations about different parts of the services that are provided locally over the coming months.

🎨 Head to The Story Durham this St George’s Day for a range of creative craft activities for all ages!

The building will also be lit up in red and white to mark the occasion and we will also tell the story of George Bradford VC. Born on 23 April 1887 and tragically killed on the same day in 1918, he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery.

Discover local history, get creative, and celebrate the day in a unique and inspiring setting.

♻️ Don't forget, while we prepare for food waste collections starting in the summer, we're changing the way we collect your glass for recycling...

Here’s what you need to know 👇

🟦 Glass recycling
You can no longer use your green box for glass. Instead, all glass should go in your blue-lidded bin along with paper, card, plastics and cans.
If you don't want to keep your glass box please put it out from now on and it will be collected and recycled.

🛍️ Extra recycling
If your blue bin is full, you can put extra recycling (except glass) in a clear plastic bag and leave it next to your bin.
❗ Important: we can’t collect any glass that isn’t inside the bin.

🟩 What about your green box?
You don’t need to return it; you’re welcome to keep and reuse it. Any glass boxes left out from now on will be removed.

🌍 Why the change?
This update helps reduce the number of containers needed at home and prepares for the introduction of food waste collections later this summer.
