Today, almost 900 years later, it is one one of the more ‘Well Connected’ places in Scotland. Just off the M90 Motorway, just 30 minutes from Edinburgh or Stirling. 40 minutes from Glasgow, Dunfermline is accessible by road, rail, coach and car very easily! The town has good retail shops, a host of excellent eateries and a vibrant entertainment scene. Make Dunfermline a place to visit, you will not be disappointed!

Dunfermline sunset through the Louise Carnegie Gates into Pittencrieff Park (aka The Glen), Andrew Carnegie’s Greatest gift to his Birthtown!

In The City & Royal Burgh there were many other gifts generously given by Andrew, including the very first ‘Carnegie Public Library’, opened in 1883 and still in use today. This library was the first of 2800 donated by Andrew world wide!

When travel is allowed again, why not book a Walking Tour and see the whole of Andrew’s story, led by a guide who once lived in a house just 50 yards away from where Andrew was born - but around 100 years later!
