What a year 2023 has been, should I have seen it coming? My Chinese horoscope generated from a temple visit in Malaysia was very accurate (see next foto), little did I know at the time! A year of incredible good fortune, meeting new friends, learning from legendary experts in their fields and fulfilling more orders in one month than I could have dreamt of. I’ve loved every minute and have some big plans for new creations next year. Keep following to see how these emerge, including the ups and downs of artistic endeavour! Happy New Year to you all and thank you for your continued support. Wagon Yard Artists

A momentary break from making lilies to installing two sculptures into a private exhibition in Marlborough for one night only. This nautilus is the one featured at the end of the Make it at Market programme, and the maple leaf sphere is a much smaller version of the 1 metre diameter piece shown on the programme too. Very pleased with these two, which are dear to my heart. Huge thanks to for making the plinth on which the nautilus stands, it looks fabulous. Now back to my lilies!

I will be very busy in the workshop from now on to fulfill orders for Christmas, but that’s my happy place so it’s all good!

Exciting news - I can now reveal that series two of Make it at Market will be aired from 27thNovember on BBC1! Put it in your diary and hit series record to make sure you don’t miss me. It was a fabulous experience filming my part in the show and it seems like an age ago now. It’s all a bit of a blur so I will be watching keenly to make sure I didn’t embarrass myself! My mentor Ian Gill was
superb throughout and continues to amaze me with his ongoing support – what a great guy.
As soon as I know which date my episode will air I will be sure to let you all know but watch them all anyway, it’s a great set of very talented people.

Reposted • Over 11 days we are profiling each of our recent training bursary recipients.

Roy Evans trained as a metalsmith in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. After leaving the Army he got a job in IT but always wanted to return to his passion, and started making metal sculptures in his spare time before giving up the day job in June this year. His bursary will allow him to train with Michael Johnson at in Cornwall, a workshop with an international reputation in a number of coppersmithing techniques. He plans to go on to teach the craft to others.

Roy said:
"The opportunity to spend face-to-face time with a world class craftsman like Michael Johnson in his workshop is a dream come true. This bursary will permit me to accelerate my coppersmithing practice and pursue very specific skills and processes which reside in few practitioners of a critically endangered craft. This is an opportunity like no other and I intend to fully exploit it and ensure that it is documented in order to pass elements learned to others in the future."

Roy’s bursary is one of three funded by .
