Imagine I think shows the power of abstract. Aiming to create an image with such depth and interest from minimal layers and lines. I use one layer of thick paint and it is done in such a way through many changes in direction that the eye is left constantly trying to piece the lines together into an image. This therefore makes the imagination constantly build up new images, hence the name “imagine” when ever you ask someone what they see they will always find something new that you can’t see at all or have never seen before. ❤️

The inspiration form “atlas” came from looking at a picture of the world.
I wanted to abstract a section using the colours typically found in a picture of the world from space but of course giving it a unique graffiti style twist

Imagine the image is a top down shot from space and the paint splats are clouds or weather channels crossing the landscape

And if you look you can see the overlay is in the shape of a letter “A” that has that anarchist overlapping letter style font which ties in nicely with graffiti and it’s freedom rebellious movement.

I was sat in my garden with my fire bin lit filling it with wood and and watching the flames rise higher and higher, then as they started to subside and the long branches buckled under their own weight and into the collection of embers “Ember” was born…

“Ying Yang Sun”

The powerful triptych motivational artwork “Ying Yang sun” that depicts the relationship between light and dark positive and negative ying and Yang where there can not be one with out the other

The traditional depiction is two fish creating a circle symbol but I wanted to take this concept and the message and alter it to use the thing that creates the most light known to us all, the sun.

I want to show as the light shines bright in the centre it has to be black to even be seen in the white of the canvas but has to then alter into white when it makes contact with the black canvas depicting they are both one and the same

Every reaction has an equal and opposite reaction. Every negative has a positive. Every dark moment always has a light that can be found amongst it, at the end of the tunnel. Homeostasis.

Embrace the struggle and the reward will be great

When you are feeling down, look at the artwork and recognise the light heading your way. Remember there is no light with our dark

The huge 1 meter square highly textured volcanic sand beach scene

This one was produced from my trip to Lanzarote, where I collected the black volcanic sand to use on the beach section then built up over 5kg of a special plaster mix to create the solid yet flexible ocean froth scene building up on the shore.

It has to be seen in person to be truly appreciated

When I created this work my vision was to produce a new version of Ying and Yang symbolism.

I wanted to portray the sun,
And as the sun hits the dark it brings light
But it also portrays black in day as there is no light with out dark

There is no Ying without Yang
There is no one with out the other
Alan watts explains this perfectly

It is now available on my website as a triptic as a framed and signed one off original
