Volunteers are the backbone of the heritage sector and we'd like to say a HUGE thank you to ours, not just on but every day. ๐Ÿ’™

From helping to set up exhibitions, supporting workshops & events, cleaning the beach, chatting to customers, helping out in the coffee and gift shops and much much more. We wouldn't be where we are without them.

Volunteering is a great way to get out and about, develop your skills and meet like minded people. If you'd be interested in volunteering at Waterlines, drop us a message and we can arrange a chat.

This looks like great fun ๐ŸŒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒโ€โ™€๏ธ We'll be sharing in the centenary celebrations a little bit later this year with an exhibition dedicated to Lybster Golf Club โ›ณ๏ธ

Itโ€™s all starting to get very exciting at LGC โ€ฆ 6 days to go โ€ฆ

Join us in kicking off the LGC Centenary celebrations with a FUN Heritage Event - Hickory Golf, play golf as it was when the club was established way back in 1926 (not sure there will be many around who remember that).

Hickory Golf club sets provided (15x Men, 12x Ladies, 3x LH) per start, and you may even decide to dress in a 1920โ€™s style?

Today marks the start of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month - a time to celebrate the cultures, histories, traditions and contributions of Gypsy, Roma and Scottish Traveller communities.

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œOnwards With Hope,โ€ reflects the future we want to build together - rooted in respect, inclusion and cultural understanding.

We recognise Gypsy, Roma and Scottish Traveller cultures as an important part of our shared Intangible Cultural Heritage - living traditions carried through storytelling, music, craft, language and community knowledge across generations.

At last yearโ€™s Scottish International Storytelling Festival, these traditions were celebrated through performances exploring the legacy of Martyn Bennett and the influence of Scottish Traveller culture on his music, alongside stories and folklore from Nacken (Scottish Gypsy Traveller) perspectives that offered unique insights into Scotlandโ€™s history and place names.

Getting ready for June with 'Waterlines Natural Year' ... activities and a beach clean. The beach was pretty much spotless, sadly we couldn't say the same about the back of our boat shed ... used toilet roll, human waste and dog poo bags ๐Ÿ™
