Born in Nantes, France, Mélanie Bourget began her artistic journey in street performance before transitioning to sculpture.

Mélanie strives to unravel the mystery of the human soul and ordinary daily existence, in order to highlight the essential: life. Mélanie captures movement and emotion, seizing gesture and expression to restore a face, a body, a being in its entirety.

At the crossroads of various styles, from vintage romantic to rebellious old school, the marks on the skin trace the journey of each character and tell their story, leaving enough mystery to invite us to a very personal interpretation. Using Raku reinforces these marks by cracking the enamel, creating paths of expression like the scars left by time, intimate witnesses of a personal story.

Shown main picture and swipe for detail of:
Left: Girls Night Out II, Raku - 24 x 15 x 15 cm
Right: Girls Night Out I, Raku - 28 x 17 x 16 cm
Both by Melanie Bourget

Kellie Miller is a professional artist since 1994 and opened KMA Gallery in 2013. Her art depicts abstracted images of nature and places around the world that have inspired her. The messages within her pieces are about hope, self-discovery and optimism, which is clearly visible in the works she creates.  Her dynamic personality is translated into each of her pieces, making the work accessible and tactile in nature.

Her limited edition prints represents an evolution of the original artwork; it is not simply a replication of the original piece but a reimagining of it in a new form and process.

Each print is unique and follows a process of multiple screen prints with varying ink densities followed by a final stage of hand painting by Kellie herself and hand signed, numbered and stamped.

Phil Jolley’s hand built stoneware vessel forms are inspired by found objects, archaeological remains and architectural features.

The suggestion of what might have once been, fragments that have been eroded but reveal hidden details, all come to life once again in his works.

Many of the sprigs and stamps that feature on Phil’s vessels are taken from found objects or architectural details. He is continually experimenting with combinations of clays and surface additions, discovering or collecting new objects to create new sprigs from.

Mary Jones creates striking figurative ceramic sculptures deeply rooted in human emotion. Her work is painterly, expressive, and sculptural, with each piece embodying a distinct presence. Each sculpture begins with a conversation, drawing from the stories and memories of her subjects.

A signature element of Mary’s work is her use of broken crockery shards pressed into the faces of her sculptures. These fragments symbolise memory and the emotional imprints that shape our identities.

Alison Coaten’s sculptures connect with the thread of folklore, linking us to people’s stories, traditions, and cultures passed down through the generations by various means of expression.

She is fascinated by the human desire to make sense of existence through religion, myth, and folklore, as well as the use of art to create concrete images of worship in the form of icons and idols.

This passion has also led her to depict strong female archetypes based on remarkable and formidable women from as far back as the Middle Ages and ancient Egypt.

One can sense the energetic shifts that awaken perceptions when viewing Jules Allan’s paintings. They starkly remind us that art plays on the conscious and unconscious mind.

Jules’ dual practices as an artist and art psychotherapist,
without doubt, inform one another.

She paints by slowly building up layers and then scraping
them back to reveal new interactions between the materials.

By layering, scraping, and dissolving the paint, residual
glimpses and traces of what lies beneath appear. It is these reactions between materials that are fundamental to the work, rooting it in oppositional forces and creating tension between structure and flux, control and chaos.

Barry Stedman’s dynamic ceramic vessels evoke the textures and colours of the landscape. His work is rooted in the directness and urgency of drawing outside; responding to the weather, drama, and life which surrounds his garden studio by the river Flit in Bedfordshire.

He uses fluid, painterly approaches to explore the relationship between spontaneity and intuitive mark-making, working with coloured slips and oxides, washes of vivid colour enhanced with a bright rich clear glaze culminating in his uniquely poetic ceramic pieces.

We are delighted to announce a new, mini collection by sculptural artist Mélanie Bourget.

The women and men Mélanie sculpts transport us to a poetic, dreamlike elsewhere, so close yet somewhere else, a daily life tinged with imagination. Like a photograph, Mélanie captures movement and emotion, seizing gesture and expression to restore a face, a body, a being in its entirety.

Sometimes wise, sometimes serious, charming or even cheeky, accompanied or not by animals, flowers or ornaments, her subjects take on even more depth thanks to their finely detailed tattoos. At the crossroads of various styles, from vintage romantic to rebellious old school, these marks on the skin trace the journey of each character and tell their story, leaving enough mystery to invite us to a very personal interpretation.

The use of the ancestral Japanese firing technique Raku reinforces these marks by cracking the enamel, creating paths of expression like the scars left by time, intimate witnesses of a personal story.

Shown: ‘Wistful’ 2025, Raku. 31 x 24 x 20cm by

Annabel Munn’s latest collection explores sensory art as a memory mechanism.

Her works are based around a small globe or orb, representing her recent experience of navigating Alzheimer’s with her mother.

She discovered that each day is different but also the same. The globes start out the same but each has a different surface treatment. Not only do the forms have a tactile quality but most also include sound.

03/03/2025

In his painterly responses to the coastal-landscape and the novel, Ashley Hanson’s distinctive, tactile canvases explore the frisson between information and imagination, between abstraction and figuration, and between the cerebral, the emotional and the visual. Above all is his excitement for placing colour against colour.

Oil-paint is brushed and knifed, poured and smeared, layered, cut, peeled, embellished and refined. Image and shape of place jostle, side by side. Finally, a painting emerges that is both about the subject and the experience of painting but also, crucially, a vibrant independent entity that intrigues and surprises.

Shown: Porthleven 62 (Red Crane),
Oil on Canvas

Welcome to Kellie Miller Arts - in the heart of Brighton.

The artist owned gallery is located in the prestigious, historical heart of the Brighton Lanes area, a fitting situation for a space sympathetic to the art of story-telling.

The gallery houses local, national and international artist’s works that speak of the artistic process, where the hand of the artist can be seen. Sculptures, textured paintings, mixed media and ceramics are Kellie’s passion. Marrying different art forms allows her to present artworks that are approachable, engaging and enjoyable.

She takes great delight in collecting and selecting artworks and displaying them harmoniously and beautifully, especially for you.

In 2020, Kellie launched an online gallery so art-lovers could purchase ceramics, sculptures and limited edition prints from the comfort of their homes too.
