New addition to the museum. A front-seam fixed-bale M-1 helmet with the early earpiece modification. This helmet was retrieved in the 1950’s from a dump site near the 735th dispersal area on Old Buckenham. Mega rare. It, unfortunately, features what appears to be flak damage indicating the possible reason why it was discarded.

The Eight AF Heritage Gallery is coming along nicely. We got the lights wired and hung in the Mission's End Bar/PX today. We also hung the 100lb bomb that has been restored to resemble one that hung in the original bar. We'll eventually have the sq number on the bomb and more signage. Love this place.

I did some metal detecting with my daughters on the airfield yesterday. We managed to find two .50 shells, the bottom of a flare and a piece of hardstand concrete. The concrete has a flat spot that would've been the surface! Super cool. We also found a foil pull-top from a bottle of Ovaltine. I'm not sure if it's wartime but it's neat to pull up something so fragile. I look forward to finding more artefacts for the museum next time!
