"Cutt and Smith explore 'presence' through their works. This expands each artist's ability to experiment with their practice, blending their skill with painting and drawing as one. In this collaboration, the 'noise' of each work is paramount to the creation of the atmosphere of 'what was once there'. Cutt and Smith uncover/block sections of their work which 'play too loud'. In this way Cutt and Smith erase and recreate their own works until only small sections of the past bleed through to the surface. Cutt and Smith invite you to pause and consider your internal canvas of experience: What remains of your memories in the world around you? What remains of you? Do you recall the scent of your childhood? Is the past only silhouettes now?"

Opening Thursday at Arkade Gallery is an exhibition showcasing the work of contemporary collage artist Ruth Cassidy.

Hailing from Dunblane, Ruth is making the journey to the Granite City for her very first solo show, and it's shaping up to be something special.

Ruth's work is a vibrant mix of colourfully painted cutouts with a natural, organic flair, blended with carefully selected images from magazines and books.

This combination crafts abstract pieces that are not just artworks but windows into a joyful, imaginative world, all in Ruth's unique style.

Martin Bell is shaking up the scene at Arkade Gallery with COLLECTION, his unique take on record covers, posters, and book pages. With just under 100 works, his exhibition showcases a diverse range of styles and qualities, all running until January 12th.

This collection is a playful reimagining of Bell's personal items, creating art that's both engaging and laid-back. Arkade Gallery sets the perfect scene for this – it's a grassroots venue that's all about the art, without any airs and graces.

Swing by and immerse yourself in this quirky and relaxed art display. It's an unpretentious spot to enjoy some unconventional art that's created with passion but doesn't take itself too seriously.
