Moody Mansion, Galveston, Texas 🌞
Édifiée pour Narcissa Willis, v***e d’un riche négociant en coton, cette demeure de quatre étages illustre l’opulence et l’importance de Galveston, alors bien plus prospère et influente que Houston, à la fin du XIXᵉ siècle.
En 1900, quelques semaines après le terrible ouragan qui ravage la ville, William Lewis Moody Jr., l’une des grandes fortunes américaines de l’époque se porte acquéreur pour seulement 20 000 $.
Son architecture associe brique et pierre calcaire, dans un style caractéristique de l’architecture victorienne americaine de la fin du XIXᵉ siècle.

Built for Narcissa Willis, the widow of a wealthy cotton merchant, this four-story mansion reflects the opulence and importance of Galveston, which was far more prosperous and influential than Houston at the end of the 19th century.
In 1900, just weeks after the devastating hurricane that ravaged the city, William Lewis Moody Jr., one of America’s great fortunes of the time, purchased the mansion for just $20,000.
Its architecture combines brick and limestone, in a style characteristic of American Victorian architecture of the late 19th century.
