Intervalle and .leffler are delighted to announce that a work from the Zilverbeek series has entered the prestigious collection of the New York Public Library.
Many thanks to Elizabeth Cronin for her support and trust, and for the inspiring conversations shared over the years at Paris Photo. We are thrilled that the New York public will discover this artist, represented by Intervalle since 2020.
The project traces back to the Agfa-Gevaert factory in Antwerp, whose silver-rich waste once flowed into the “Zilverbeek.” Nearly a century later, Lucas Leffler revives this hidden history by creating a photosensitive emulsion from the river’s mud, producing spectral images where industrial memory meets a quest for a modern Grail.

Ce projet trouve son origine dans l’usine Agfa-Gevaert d’Anvers, dont les rejets chargés d’argent ont donné son nom à la « Zilverbeek ». Près d’un siècle plus t**d, Lucas Leffler réactive cette mémoire en élaborant une émulsion photosensible à partir de la boue du site, faisant émerger des images spectrales où se mêlent mémoire industrielle et quête d’un Graal contemporain.
