Galerie Marciano is pleased to announce the representation of Philippe Viejo.
Working in acrylic and resin, Viejo builds his portraits layer by layer, using translucent surfaces that recall glass. He calls them « shards of life. » His compositions move between figuration and abstraction, and light, texture and transparency draw attention to the depth of each gaze.
A lifelong traveler, Viejo has crossed the Atlantic several times by sailboat and journeyed from Tierra del Fuego to Alaska. A year spent working in Mexico City left a lasting mark on his practice, which explores the brilliance and complexity of the human condition.

Travaillant l’acrylique et la résine, Philippe Viejo construit ses portraits couche après couche. Ses surfaces translucides évoquent le verre, et il les nomme des « éclats de vie ». Entre figuration et abstraction, ses compositions mettent en lumière la profondeur de chaque regard.
Voyageur depuis toujours, il a traversé plusieurs fois l’Atlantique en voilier et parcouru le continent américain de la Terre de Feu à l’Alaska. Une année de création au cœur de Mexico a durablement marqué sa pratique, qui interroge l’humanité dans toute sa lumière et sa complexité.
