Common misconception: folding props experience frequent wear because they have many moving parts.
The principle is simple:
Only the blades move — and because they do, every part of the construction is engineered to be extremely robust. Stainless steel pivot pins, a solid blade root, and a double helical gear that meshes with precision, keeping play and wear to a minimum.
In reality, replacements are rare.
The only component that needs regular replacement is the anode.
Why?
It’s there to protect your prop from electrolysis — something that can affect any propeller, whether fixed, feathering or folding.
As an additional feature you can sometimes replace the blades for the option to increase the pitch or diameter in order to improve thrust or higher top speed. People mainly replace the blades when upgrading to a new engine.
