Red Rockers were a Punk band from New Orleans, labeled the „American answer to The Clash“ by Rolling Stone music writer Lester Bangs - a resemblance Hill considered „kind of funny“.

Dee Dee and the Ramones had just released „Pleasant Dreams“ - peaking at No. 58 on the Billboard 200.

Johnny, Joey & fans, 1977.

Here‘s Johnny and Joey outside Eric‘s in Liverpool, mingling with their fans, May 19, 1977 - Joey‘s 26th birthday.

Photographer Ian Dickson spent the afternoon with the Ramones, taking pictures around Mathew Street, outside the venue. On return, the band signed autographs and took some time for their fans.

Leter that day, Dickson managed to get some of the most iconic shots of the Punk era, when a fan jumped on stage, playing air guitar while the band relentlessly blasted through their set.

The guitar and bass were signed for B.A.D.D. (Bikers Against Drunk Drivers), backstage at La Ronde in Montreal, where the Ramones performed as part of the Escape From New York tour.

B.A.D.D. aims to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving, frequently operating through national campaigns and charity raffles, including signed instruments.

Ramones, 1978.

Here‘s Johnny, Joey, Marky and Dee Dee on the set of „Rock‘n‘Roll Highschool“, December 1978.

They‘re piled up in the back seat of a pink Cadillac, with DJ legend Rodney Bingenheimer behind the wheel, ready to perform a playback version of „I Just Wanna Have Something To Do“ - with Joey chewing on a chicken leg.

As fun as the movie turned out to be for the audience, Johnny had a rough time filming the thing. In his autobiography „Commando“ he remembers: „The filming of Rock‘n‘Roll Highschool was torture, sitting around all the time. Dee Dee was getting high all the time, my girlfriend was drinking, and I just stayed in my room and watched TV …

Iwas under a lot of stress. I would have my girlfriend, Cynthia, there visiting, then (former wife) Rosana, who I was still seeing, would come in when I sent Cynthia home …

When Rock’n’Roll Highschool premiered in New York at the 8th Street Playhouse, I snuck into the theater after the place was dark and sat in the back row. People there loved it. The movie was better than I thought it would be.“

CJ Ramone, 1990.

Here‘s CJ performing „Durango 95“ at Austin Aqua Fest, July 28, 1990. It was the first song of the Ramones set. Each night, Johnny and CJ jumped on a riser placed at stage front, wrapped in fog, while Joey stood center stage, waiting for „Durango“ to end and „Teenage Lobotomy“ to kick off the set for him, too.

In this summer of 1990, the Ramones toured throughout the US as part of the „Escape From New York Tour“, with Debbie Harry, Tom Tom Club and Jerry Harrison.

Dee Dee Ramone, 2000.

Here‘s Dee Dee at Home in L.A., kicking back, having a smoke on his couch and a guitar to fool around with. Good times!

It was here on 6740 Franklin Place, Apt. 2004, where Dee Dee overdosed two years later: June 5, 2002. His wife Barbara found him around 8:25pm, „collapsed, face down, over the arm of the couch and unresponsive“, according to the autopsy report by coroner Dennis Crau. „Death was pronounced at 8:40pm by paramedics of LAFD RA # 27. No trauma noted. Apparent drugs and paraphernalia were found. Possible drug overdose.“
