Often working with industrial materials and techniques, the artists in their own way poetically and aesthetically play with the traces the works leave behind. Either through the juxtaposition of different material, the questioning of social contexts or sculptural transformations. The visual echoes that emerge from these traces inhabit both processual and material resonances, which eventually extend beyond the surface of the object. BRISE handelt von Öffnung und Veränderung, vagen Erwartungen und konkreten Versuchen. Ausgestellt ist ein Arrangement aus Malerei, Skulptur, Möbel und räumlicher Intervention. Mit einer blauen vertikalen Linie scheint Möller malerisch die Fläche der Nische oberhalb des Heizkörpers, die an ein geschlossenes Fenster denken lässt, um einen Spalt zu öffnen. Imaginär entsteht eine laue Brise durch den so angedeuteten Durchzug mit der gegenüberliegenden Eingangstür von IN THE RACK ROOM: Ein Moment der Veränderung. Die ausgestellten Werke handeln vom Suchen nach neuen Formen, sind Dekonstruktionen: Malereien, die durch behutsames Öffnen ihrer Flächen oder Rahmen symbiotisch mit dem Ausstellungsraum verschränkt sind. Die Skulptur Umbruch (2014-2016, 2020), die sich in einem Zwischenzustand von alt und neu zu befinden scheint. Und Möbel, die ursprünglich Sockel waren. Der Wille zur Veränderung und Bewegung ist jeder Arbeit inhärent. David Möller (*1983 in Osnabrück) lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Er studierte von 2005-2009 Malerei an der Academy of Art & Design in Enschede, Niederlande und an der Marmara Universität in Istanbul, Türkei. Möller realisiert sowohl malerische als auch dreidimensionale Werke. In den letzten Jahren setzt er sich zudem mit neuen Inszenierungsmöglichkeiten auseinander. Ausstellungsräume werden von Möller als künstlerisches Präsentationsmittel reflektiert, manipuliert und durch neue Raumelemente verändert. So ergeben sich Umgebungen, die spezifische Rahmen für darin integrierte Bilder und Objekte bieten. *IN THE RACK ROOM is the new side project of Pierre Granoux, based in his former artist studio, today his storage room. To mark the occasion, we present the group exhibition SONDERLAGE TOTALE! The 5-part exhibition series SONDERLAGE spanned the past six months. This first half of the year was marked stakly by the restrictions caused by the pandemic and the title we chose actually fit well with our experience. Care was needed, with the artists and with the audience. It was a new challenge to organize virtual exhibitions and soft openings, to conduct CLUBHOUSE online conversations, to severely restrict access for visitors, and to try to have intelligent conversations with distance and mouth-to-nose masks. From July 15 to August 7, the works of all 15 participating artists* will be brought together in a final exhibition: SONDERLAGE TOTALE. Still with masks and the usual distance, but this time with an official vernissage. Also on view are the 15 limited editions created especially for the exhibition series. The exhibition series SONDERLAGE is supported by Stiftung Kunstfonds and NEUSTART KULTUR. It refers to the principal sources of all the ideas we have, mentioned by the 18th century English empiricist John Locke. Language, writing, and text are a common thread in Irène Hug's work. She often plays with the meaning as well as the typographic function of signs, logos and advertising slogans. She does this by appropriating, reworking, or repurposing found materials and transforming them into light boxes, installations, photographs (which she often manipulates), objects, (wood) sculptures, among others. The works become temporary placements on walls and buildings while adding new meaning to existing structures.
