📝We’ve been enthusiastic subscribers to Colleen Barry’s Substack for a long time. We found her latest article so important and inspiring for young artists or for those who might be preparing their first exhibition, that we couldn’t keep it to ourselves.

With the kind permission of Colleen Barry, we’re sharing a few thoughts and quotes. You can find the entire excellent article on Colleen Barry’s Substack. Link in bio! It’s really worth reading.

You can recognize Luis Xertu ‘s paintings at first glance by their earthier colors and, above all, the flower, and sometimes the fabrics, that accompany them.

Where do the plants in the paintings come from, and what is their significance? Why do the figures so often immerse themselves in water, and what does the water symbolize? In this two-part interview, we discuss these topics, the upcoming exhibition “Halfway across the Rubicon”, at PODIUM and the difficult themes that underpin his work.

The exhibition will be open at the Podium Gallery in Hong Kong starting on September 19.
