A major milestone for Sanya's cultural infrastructure.
Construction of the China Hainan International Cultural Relics and Artworks Trading Center and the Hainan International Cultural Exchange Center is progressing steadily.
The Trading Center has entered its final interior finishing stage. Structural work, mechanical and electrical installation have been completed, while interior decoration, façade, roofing and landscaping are nearing completion. Equipment commissioning and final inspections are now underway.
Meanwhile, the Hainan International Cultural Exchange Center has completed its main steel roof structure and has officially entered the interior construction phase, with completion expected in June 2027.
Located in Sanya Central Business District, the two landmark projects cover nearly 170,000 square meters with a total investment of approximately RMB 3.7 billion.
Upon completion, the complex will provide world-class facilities for international cultural exchange, large-scale performances, conferences, and cultural relics and artworks auctions—supporting Hainan's vision as a global destination for culture, creativity, and the arts.

New Opportunities for Cultural Trade from the Hainan Free Trade Port

The National Base for International Cultural Trade (Sanya) participated in the "Colorful China, Festive Gifts" Cultural and Tourism Trade Promotion Event held in Beijing on June 24.

Bringing together ambassadors, diplomatic representatives and industry leaders from 14 countries and regions, the event served as a platform to promote international cultural and tourism trade and strengthen global cooperation.

As one of the event's 11 featured presenters, the Sanya Base introduced the Hainan Free Trade Port's policy advantages for the cultural sector, highlighting the China Hainan International Cultural Relics and Artworks Trading Center and the Hainan International Cultural Exchange Center.

Following the presentation, the Sanya delegation met with participating enterprises to discuss future collaboration. Several companies expressed strong interest in exploring opportunities in cross-border cultural trade and the circulation of artworks through the Hainan Free Trade Port.

The event created valuable connections between cultural enterprises, international organizations and diplomatic networks, supporting broader cooperation in global cultural trade.

How can cultural relics and artworks move seamlessly across borders?

The China Hainan International Cultural Relics and Artworks Trading Center is exploring a new model for the international circulation of cultural relics and artworks.

As the project nears completion, its global partnership and leasing program is now underway, welcoming leading auction houses, galleries, museums, cultural institutions, authentication organizations, creative studios, curatorial agencies, and premium lifestyle brands from around the world.

The surrounding Sanya Central Business District (Sanya CBD) has already developed a strong cultural industry ecosystem, with more than 150 art-related enterprises established. As a pioneering platform, the SANYA CBD MUSEUM OF ART has introduced the district's first international gallery, international auction house, and conservation institution. Since opening, it has hosted more than 40 exhibitions and auctions, attracted over 330,000 visitors, and supported 10 major cultural relic auctions with total sales exceeding RMB 400 million.

Supported by the opportunities of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the China Hainan International Cultural Relics and Artworks Trading Center will integrate exhibitions, auctions, authentication, logistics, financial services, and international cultural exchange into one comprehensive platform, creating new opportunities for global collaboration in art and cultural trade.

The National Base for International Cultural Trade (Sanya) participated in the 22nd China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) from May 21–25, 2026.

As one of China’s most influential international cultural industry platforms, ICIF welcomed exhibitors and professional visitors from around the world, creating new opportunities for cultural exchange and global collaboration.

During the fair, the “Tides of Sanya · Connecting the Greater Bay Area” resource exchange salon was successfully held in Shenzhen. The event gathered representatives from the fields of cultural trade, contemporary art, digital creativity, public art, and international exhibitions to explore how the Hainan Free Trade Port can support global cultural cooperation and cross-border art trade.

The event also highlighted the future development of the China Hainan International Cultural Relics & Artworks Trading Center and the Hainan International Cultural Exchange Center, further strengthening Sanya’s positioning as:
