Der Mondspaziergang während der historischen Mondlandung von Apollo 11 dauerte nur zwei Stunden und 31 Minuten. Doch Neil Armstrong und Buzz Aldrin hatten eine Menge zu tun, und die wissenschaftlichen Ergebnisse dieses kurzen Aufenthalts waren unermesslich. The moon walk during the historic Apollo 11 moon landing lasted just 2 hours and 31 minutes. Neither astronaut walked more than 55 metres away from the lunar module Eagle. But Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin had a lot to do, and the scientific results of this short stay were immeasurable. In our small museum, you won't be travelling long distances either. Because you will be moving around in an area of just 150 square metres. But we are sure that the size of the terrain – similar to Apollo 11 – will not detract from the experience. We may have a small museum. But we guarantee you great stories and fascinating objects. Let us surprise you! Please note: We are only open on selected weekends. Roman is packed up and ready to roll! 🚀

NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is now encapsulated in the Falcon Heavy fairing ahead of a targeted launch on Aug. 30 from Kennedy.

SpaceX's Vice President of Launch, Kiko Dontchev, has confirmed that today's launch of Starlink Group 10-49 was the last planned Falcon 9 Starlink launch from Florida.

Dontshev added: "From here on, Starlink missions out of Florida will fly on Starship. [...] In the last seven years, Falcon has flown ~260 Starlink missions from the Cape… can’t wait until we launch that and many more with Starship!"

Falcon 9 Starlink launches from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California will continue.

An international research team led by the University of Bern has used high-resolution computer simulations and comparisons with the latest images from the ESA space probe Hera to show that a single asteroid impact shaped the Martian moon Deimos and created its smooth, dusty surface. This is the first scientific publication to use data from the ESA space probe Hera flyby of Deimos and provides an important foundation for future space missions, such as the MMX mission of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). 60 years ago, on August 10, 1966, Lunar Orbiter 1 launched as the first of five NASA spacecraft in the Lunar Orbiter programme. Until 1967, the probes photographed around 99% of the Moon’s surface, providing crucial data for selecting landing sites for the later Apollo missions. Lunar Orbiter 1 was also the first US spacecraft to orbit the Moon and the first to photograph Earth from near the Moon. A decisive step on the road to the first crewed lunar landing! Our home galaxy, the Milky Way, grew to its current size in part by consuming smaller galaxies. Now, new data from the Hubble Space Telescope show definitive evidence of a dwarf galaxy merging with the young Milky Way galaxy in the earliest phases of its evolution. Unsere Heimatgalaxie, die Milchstrasse, wuchs unter anderem dadurch zu ihrer heutigen Grösse heran, dass sie kleinere Galaxien verschlang. Nun liefern neue Daten des Hubble-Weltraumteleskops eindeutige Beweise dafür, dass in den frühesten Phasen ihrer Entwicklung eine Zwerggalaxie mit der jungen Milchstrasse verschmolz.
