Thierry Didot Studio

Thierry Didot Studio Swiss design studio based in Neuchâtel. Thierry Didot was born in 1986, he's graduated from the ECAL in 2011.

He opened his design office at the end of his studies, initially under the name Atelier Peekaboo with Damien Ummel. In 2011, he won the competition for the new chairs of the Lausanne's Cathedral. In 2012 he won the first prize at the Blickfang Basel Design Fair. Since then, Thierry Didot worked for different clients such as Swatch, Polit, Bernard Favre Manufacture, the Museum of Art and History of

Neuchâtel and different design galleries. The multidisciplinary nature of the work of a designer, allows him to explore products, furnitures, but also scenography or micro architecture as for the AUSLN project. By permanently questioning the industrial designer's role in a society surrounded by objects, he tries to provide answers through poetic and ludic creations. Diplômé de l’ECAL en 2011, Thierry Didot, né en 1986, ouvre son bureau de design à la suite de ses études, intialement sous le nom
Atelier Peekaboo avec Damien Ummel. En 2011 il gagne la mise au concours de la nouvelle chaise de la cathédrale de Lausanne avec le projet « Luc 9.15 ». En 2012 Il remporte le premier prix du salon de design Blickfang Basel. Depuis, Thierry Didot a travaillé pour des clients tels que Swatch, la maison d’édition Polit, Bernard Favre Manufacture, le Musée d’art et d’histoire de Neuchâtel ou encore différentes galeries. La pluridisciplinarité du métier de designer lui permet d’explorer le produit, le mobilier, mais également la scénographie muséale ou encore la micro architecture avec le projet « AUSLN ». Dans une remise en question évidente sur le rôle que peut jouer un designer dans une société encombrée d’objets, il tente d’apporter des éléments de réponse à travers des créations ludiques et poétiques.

Poetic and fascinating object, each bubble magnifies its support by its fortuitous presence, reminding the unexpected surprises of life.

��The steel structures, powder-coated in black, created from square-based tubes, call to mind by their ambiguous presence in space. They are geometric, but asymmetrical. They are stable, but seem precariously on their legs. They are volumes, but look like flattened graphics. ��Material flows freely and freezes according to its desires, blown glass bubbles appropriate their supports and play with them to bring their soul and their sweetness that perhaps lacked. This interaction increases the structures' statures, sublimates them, but the glass bubble is also dependent on its support, without which it could not exist...
