Yesterday, we concluded the month-long Spring class of our Elementary Chinese Tea Master Course. To witness how each student leaned into the intensity of the training, with openness and perseverance, has been deeply inspiring for us.

What we love most is how the course brings together people from Vancouver, Edmonton, and Toronto, each at different points in their tea journey, each carrying their own intentions. Watching this cohort form genuine friendships, exchange resources, and support one another has been truly beautiful.

For participants who already carry a wealth of tea knowledge and practice within other tea cultures, it has been a joy to see them share their unique perspectives while discovering new insights. For those who are relatively new to the world of Chinese tea, their curiosity and dedication have been just as moving. We are truly grateful to be part of your journey.

Together, all of these form the foundation that keeps us doing what we do at Teakan: it’s not just about learning tea, but living it.

Our Japanese Foundation Tea Course this March is now open for enrollment, while more gatherings, workshops, and tea moments are coming in the months ahead. DM us if you would like to be informed about the next Chinese Tea Master Course.

We spent yesterday morning at a table without phones, without distractions, and without a to-do list in sight.

The February Recalibration was everything we hoped it would be. Upon arrival, everyone "checked in" their devices, creating a rare and refreshing clearing for us to simply be present. The two hours went by in what felt like a heartbeat as we moved through a curated tea tasting and into a deep sensory exploration with Helen Liu.

It was a gift to watch the room soften during the aromatherapy session. We saw firsthand how scent acts as an anchor for the mind. Each note brought out different imagery, shifting emotions, and quiet memories, proving that aroma is a powerful map back to our own internal landscape.

By the time we reached the end, there was a visible sense of lightness in the room. Everyone left the table having learned something new, carrying home a small toolkit of tea and oil to help recreate that stillness whenever they need it.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this ritual. We are already looking forward to the next time we gather at the table.

Lunar New Year and Valentine’s arrive within a week, a beautiful crossing of renewal and affection.

For Valentine’s, we are steeping our beloved Honey Orchid, with its natural lychee sweetness and lingering floral notes. A tea that reminds us the sweetest moments are often the gentlest ones.

To welcome the Year of the Horse, we are pouring Jin Jun Mei aka The Golden Horse. With its luminous golden tips and deep, nectar like warmth, this tea carries quiet power and forward motion.

As we celebrate, our online shop will take a short hiatus in March to rest and thoughtfully refresh our tea collection. We look forward to returning renewed, with new stories ready to be steeped.

Wishing you a golden year ahead. May this season bring tenderness, connection, and time well spent.

When was the last time you allowed yourself to unfurl like a leaf? No distractions, no boundaries, and no to-do list pulling at your sleeve.

We’ve been feeling it too. By February, the initial spark of the year often turns into a heavy weight of obligations. The hustle begins to feel loud, making the mind feel bogged down and the body feel distant.

We created The February Recalibration because we wanted to share the stillness we find at the tea table. For us, tea is a sensory map. It starts with the sight of the dry leaves and the shifting aromas as they meet the water, followed by the warmth of the cup against your palms. As your senses begin to explore these changes, the daily noise starts to fade. It creates a small, quiet clearing where you can finally catch your breath and find your center.

Alongside Helen Liu, we are taking that exploration deeper. By pairing the ritual of tea with the introspective power of aromatherapy, we are offering more than just a break. We are sharing a way to find your own rhythm again.

Our goal is for you to walk away feeling a genuine sense of lightness. You will leave refreshed and with a better understanding of your own needs, along with a bag of tea and your own mini roller bottle of oil to help you navigate the rest of the year with steadiness.

Join us at the table on February 21. Let’s unfurl together.

Saturday, Feb 21 | 10am – 12pm
📍 2250 Main Street, Vancouver

By mid-February, the momentum of the new year can start to feel a bit heavy. We’ve been meeting timelines and holding onto intentions with a tight grip, but it’s easy to lose our own rhythm in the rush.

Join us on February 21 for The February Recalibration. This isn’t just an event; it’s an invitation to use your senses as a map back to yourself. We believe tea and aroma are anchors. They are natural tools that help us navigate back to the body and find our center.

Alongside Helen Liu (Senior Yoga Teacher & Certified Aromatherapist), we’ll explore how the humble ritual of tea and the functional power of essential oils can quiet the external noise. Helen will guide us in using scent as a gateway for looking inward, helping us return to the present with steadiness and care.

Honour the work you’ve already done and find the calmness necessary to carry you forward. Spaces are limited to keep the conversation intimate.
