'From 1984 to 1995, I lived and worked in old run-down commercial buildings on St. Maurice and Wellington streets, in a neighbourhood known as the “quartier des Récollets,” between Griffintown and Old Montreal... Back then, it was sparsely populated by low-income people who lived affordably next to (and in the case of artists, inside of) dusty warehouses and other aging commercial buildings...The visual artists, poets and musicians who lived in these relics from the past questioned their destinies, and created their visions for the future. This spirit of questioning in a bleakly beautiful world has permeated my psyche and my imagery. Each new drawing that I create reveals additional facets of a fictitious parallel world, based on history but exploring possible future incarnations'- Frank Mulvey

NEW EXHIBITION Opening Saturday July 5th.

Artist Frank Mulvey will be at the gallery from 1-3pm to greet visitors and introduce them to his enchanting collection of large scale charcoal drawing and sketches and the launch of his most recent artist book.

All are welcome to attend!

These creative souls are part of the Arts and Culture Specialist High Skills Major program, one of many offered in the current Ontario curriculum. Credits earned through this program enable students to build a foundation of sector-focused knowledge and skills before graduating and entering apprenticeship training, college, university, or an entry-level position in the workplace. Congrats to the visual artists who also have their work featured in the exhibition!
