It is also the location and studio for the resident artist, Kate Ramos. We

are open year round Tuesday -Saturday 10am-6pm

The Edge Gallery opened in 2011, by local artist Kate Ramos. The gallery has well over 50 artists to date. Mostly well known local artists, but the gallery also represents some well known international canadian artists as well. Some artists represented are Marie-Claude Boucher, Jennifer Woodburn, John Adams, Jeanette Luches, Eduard Gurevich, Deb Grisé, Irina Gretchania, Michael Foers, Heather Haynes and Sue Miller to name a few. Kate has travelled all over Ontario, selling her work at different types of galleries and found the commercial type gallery worked best for her. The gallery collects 5 to 10 paintings per artist and rotates the main walls once per month, it also has a viewing section for the over stocked paintings. She got tired of waiting for someone to open this type of gallery in Barrie and decided to opened one herself. She also sees her gallery as an art education center and has plans to open a workshop area in the gallery sometime early this year. Now that art is being cut from the public school system she feels that someone needs to provide creative teaching to our future generations. At the Edge Gallery they look forward to meeting you and helping you find that special piece of art that will last you a lifetime.

Making Edges & Textures

I have been painting my whole life, and have been expressing myself visually to others for years. It is how I speak to the world. Over a decade ago inspiration struck and I started to create textures in my paintings for people to touch. My hope is others will enjoy the different textures on their fingertips or to imagine the scale of a tree, a mountain or the perspective in our environment. So I felt the blind might directly benefit from my work and I have shared many of my paintings with patrons of the CNIB.
